Because of the delay of material shipping, we didn't manage to catch up on time. the following data is based on previous work and is expected in our project.
The expression of Ghchi6 in cotton:
The GMO tobacco is separated into different groups either with or without aphid attack. After 24 hours, compared to the control group, the group with aphid attack demonstrated inhibition in chitinase gene expression in cotton stems. After 48 hours, the expression in stem continued decreasing, and the expression also lowered in leaves. The chitinase expression was highest after mechanical wounding after 24 hours and gradually decreased. This shows the expression of chitinase participated in defending the wound from outside.
The result shows that far fewer aphids choose transgenic plant. The two tests confirmed that over-expression in plant cells can have an effective defend against aphid infection. What’s more, the activity of chitinase in leaf is also higher than in control group, further contributing to a workable resistance.
