We got a collaboration e-mail from Cairo University (CU) in December 2018. They asked us to give hints and ways to decide iGEM project. Contacting with them, we understood their project was removing sodium chloride from sea water by using yeast to make freshwater and this is similar to our project 2018. That’s how we got a lot of questions from CU.
To their questions, we taught our distress of using yeast from biosafe viewpoint and ways to assay their results. In addition, we suggested future application of desalination system such as device for hypertension or water purification. This advice could help to make their idea and inspiration reasonable.

We participated in the Japan Meet-Up hosted by iGEM GIFU TOKAI. At that time, we had not decided the project theme yet, but we were able to hear various ideas from other teams. Also, it was good to be able to interact with other Japanese teams. Thank you GIFU TOKAI for hosting.

A lot of Japanese teams also participated in the presentation and discussion. Dr. Mikami came from Keio University who specializes in Science and Technology Studies, STS. He gave us advice "go further of the people you actually meet” and this helped us with the Human & Practice presentation. Thank you Tokyo Tech for hosting.
