Collaborations
How we collaborate with other teams
iGEM Japan Meetup 2019
We hosted iGEM Japan Meetup 2018 on December 8, 2018, at Gifu University. Five teams got together, and each group gave presentations about their projects for the Giant Jamboree in 2018 and plans in 2019. Through discussion, we gave and received feedback respectively. We talked with members of other teams about, for example, how to manage the iGEM teams well. We had a very productive time with them. This Meetup was held to promote collaborations within iGEM Japan team and introduce some tips to Gunma, a newcomer of iGEM.

iGEM Japan Summer Meetup 2019
We took part in iGEM Japan Meetup 2019 on August 16 at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Six teams joined as participants and, each side delivered the detailed information of their provisional projects and exchanged opinions and suggestions. In addition to 6 teams, two groups which are eager to join iGEM 2020 or later (Tokyo, Waseda) introduced themselves. We also discussed future works and Human Practice to make it more improved and sophisticated. TokyoTech team invited Professor Mikami from Keio University, who is a specialist of Human Practice. He gave some advice to all units. We have a suggestion that clarifying what you have done and achieved in the movement is quite indispensable. We were inspired a lot by knowing new projects and views of other teams, and glad to see members of new Japan teams.

Supporting establishment of team Gunma
Team Gunma is a new group of iGEM from Gunma University. The team was organized by the leader, Mizuki KITA, in April 2017 and officially registered iGEM competition from this year. We, team GIFU TOKAI, has contacted iGEM Gunma from last year to provide suggestions and technical supports from the experiences of this competition. Besides, we organized iGEM Japan Meetup for the newcomers of iGEM Japan team and had presentations concerning Biobrick standard and iGEM rules. As technical supports, we taught some genes which may contribute to their project such as lysis protein of T4 bacteriophage.
Furthermore, we suggested some future work for their project to make it more feasible. In Gunma project, the group tries to kill some types of bacteria using transforming plasmids. However, the circular DNA could be released out of the cells, and the result could be differed depending on the environment outside laboratories. Thus we advised them to consider genome engineering and importing the genes to the genome. The paper on genome engineering of E.coli was also added with our suggestions.
Wiki Support from US AFRL Carroll HS
iGEM US AFRL CarrollHS team offered detailed information on how to edit wiki using Bootstrap 4 this year. The group made videos, GitHub page and particular wiki page to provide the information with TU Dresden team and Nottingham iGEM. The wiki guide is straightforward to understand and, we cannot make our wiki without their support. For future iGEM teams, we strongly recommend that members in charge of wiki check their pages to know how to edit HTML, CSS, Javascript in iGEM wiki system. We applied {{GIFU_TOKAI/CSS}} and other themes following their guide. Even the designer of this wiki (Ryo NIWA) has never coded the whole wiki page; the member made the wiki you are watching now.
