iGEM Japan Summer Meetup 2019

August 16th, 2019, we organized the meeting “Japan Meet Up” with other iGEM teams at TokyoTech in order to share our ideas. The teams which attended this meeting are following: TokyoTech, GIFU_TOKAI, Botchan Lab Tokyo, Kyoto, Gunma and ASIJ(High School).

At the meeting, each team gave a presentation about their project of this year in English. We shared the theme, the reason of setting the theme, the plan of experiments and so on. Then other team members asked them some questions and shared their opinions (Q&A part). There were other two teams which will participate iGEM in 2020 or later; Tokyo University and Waseda University. After they listened the presentations of the six teams, they introduced themselves.

We also invited Professor Mikami from Keio University. He is the expert of human practice. He and other two alumni gave us some advice, especially about how should we promote the knowledge of genome editing technology in the Q&A part.

We were able to know the projects of other teams, and gain the opinions from other teams. We are sure that each team became able to make their presentation in English better with this meeting. All teams got some challenges for the future and advice to solve them so the performance will be improved.
