With this project, we have found a compound that is most effective at catalyzing cell autophagy which would prove advantageous since the compound could be used to combat the accumulation of toxic proteins inside of the brain that would cause AD. By incorporating LC3 into E. coli and later into cells, we tested the effects of autophagy in reaction to different compounds through observing LC3 using a confocal microscope. Although our team have not invented a way to utilize this compound under clinical procedures, we could show in figures 1a and 1b that the compound Paroxetine and Amitriptyline incites autophagy around the nucleus.
