Collaborations
We collaborated with CyanoBarrier (an iGEM team from Shanghai) and discussed different strategies both regarding our respective experiments and outreach programs. Since CyanoBarrier started their project later than we did, we shared our experiences about building up our subscribers for our Anti-AD blog, designing our merchandise (such as tote bags, T shirts, and backpack pins), and scheduling our different outreach projects (like handing out surveys, visiting senior centers to raise awareness about AD). Since we were electing our captains that afternoon, we asked them how they would choose their leaders. They also shared their experiences in the lab (such as how they organized their lab notebook).
We were glad to hear that we had inspired their fundraising event which was due to happen in a few days. At the time, they were only planning to sell their merch (notebooks and pens). When we told them that we borrowed a venue and would play “A Moment to Remember” (a movie where the protagonist was diagnosed with AD) while selling our merch designs, they said they would add more elements to their event.
This collaboration was also important for us because they shared how they had assigned tasks to all their members regarding different parts to the wiki page. This helped us to manage our time better since we knew which parts we should write respectively; the teamwork became more efficient than it had been before.
