The initial idea of making bio-relay is inspired by electrionics expert Liu Fawen and conceptualized by our advisor Zong Yeqing. Based on their inspiration, we did further research and developed the design involved in recombinase system.
Project design
Wang Boxiang, our instructor, has taught us theoretical knowledge which builds the base for project design. Zong Yeqing, an advisor from Bluepha Lab, conceptualized our project and provided ideas for the improvement. All the members in GENAS_China 2019 have brainstormed the design of the project.
Wet lab
Wang Gaoyan, our advisor from Bluepha Lab, has provided us the training of experiments basic skill. Zong Yeqing, another advisor, guided us through the experimental procedure and followed up the process of experiments. All the teammates in GENAS_China 2019 have taken part in the molecule cloning experiments. Xbiome provided us with experimental equipment and places, all the flow cytometry is done there.
Software
Long Yuxi has written a software in R that does nonlinear least squared regression to fit our experiment data onto the model of recombinase recombination at equilibrium.
Modeling
Zong Yeqing, our advisor from Bluepha Lab, kept the process of modeling design and multi-objective parameter optimization. He provided ideas and methods for our modeling and guided our team members to think further on how to use various experimental data on modeling and how to the develop the models.
Wiki
Long Yuxi and Li Jiayang, who are responsible for the content uploading and structure of the wiki. Yuan Ruoqi, Li Haoyuan, Li Qianrui, Xiong Yiduo, Yang Yuqing, Wei Chengxing and Zheng Weiyang are responsible for the writing, review and editing the content of the wiki.
Meetup & Collaboration
Zheng Weiyang, Wei Chengxing, Yuan Ruoqi, Li Haoyuan, Li Qianrui, Xiong Yiduo and Li Jiayang have taken part in the 6th Conference of China iGEMer Community (CCiC). Among them, Zheng Weiyang, Wei Chengxing and Li Haoyuan have met up with NWU_China, which laid a foundation for our later collaboration. All the team members have communicated and cooperated with team NWU_China, team GreatBay_SZ, and team BHSF_ND. As a result, collaboration provided great benefit for each of the four teams.
Integrated human practices
Yuan Ruoqi and Wei Chengxing have paid several visits to the electronics expert in order to discuss our project design and improvement schemes. Li Qianrui, Li Haoyuan, Zheng Weiyang and Wei Chengxing have communicated with expert from shenzhen children's hospital about the application prospect of our project.
Public engagement
Xiong Yiduo, responsible for investigation, has set up an online survey for better understanding on how well people with different ages know about the synthetic biology and iGEM. Li Haoyuan, Zheng Weiyang and Wei Chengxing have taken part in the radio program at FM 106.2, a local FM in Shenzhen in order to introduce synthetic biology and iGEM to the general public. Li Haoyuan, Yuan ruoqi and Xiong Yiduo have established a club in Shenzhen Middle School and taught the students in grade 10 about synthetic biology and introduced iGEM to them through the club.
