Jojo Zhu

Hello there! I’m Jojo, a sophomore from The Hill School in Pennsylvania. I grew up in Shanghai China and came to US for high school. Academic-wise, I love Latin and Greek Mythology, while cross country and debate fill my leisure time. After attending a neuroscience camp in the University of Chicago, I found myself fascinated by biology. In preparation for iGEM, I enjoyed every second working with my brilliant teammates in search for ways that we can potentially change others’ life for the better. As a team leader, I’m fully aware of my responsibility to oversee the progress of the experiments and ensure constant communication. To do so, I arrange tasks, organize lab reports, hold meetings every other day, do presentations to the public, and answer questions raised so that all of us are on the same page.

Judy Zhu

Hey y’all! This is Judy, currently attending Valley Christian High School as a Junior. Despite the interest in biological areas, I also spend decent time playing the piano and waterpolo. My roles in the team include hanging around in Lab and meddling with almost every experiment, being the first one on the lunch table and getting some really good food, and writing lab reports and Wiki with JoJo=)

Kenny Feng

Hey. This is Kenny, a 17-year-old boy. I am interested in chemistry and biology. My favorite is Pokémon. By the way, I also enjoy playing the game of Pokémon. I love playing basketball, badminton, and Nintendo games. In this activity, my job is to do the experiment and process data. I am glad to be a member of HPV Rangers.

Daniel Chen

Flexibility, earnest, and confidence; these words define me. I am Yiyin Chen, a Senior studying at California Crosspoint Academy. I’ve always been fascinated by biology. When I was young, I asked my mother: “Mom, how was I made? Where did I come from?” She smiled: “It’s a magical process, and your biology teacher knows better than us.” In iGEM, I operated experiments, and vivified the atmosphere. It was undoubtedly a great experience for self-improvements, hands-on experiences, as well as collaboration and competition.

Joey Li

This is Joey Li. I am a Grade 12 student from Shanghai Foreign Language School. Chemistry is my best subject. The SC which is a perfume like product used to clean the dirt and the smell after meal especially hotpot was made by my team last year, and has been sold to 13 hotels. Also, this product has made a profit for 1000 dollars since then. This year, I took part in iGEM in order to improve my experiment skills, team work ability, and devoted myself in helping the society. The product and research we are doing now is remarkable and outstanding, I am proud to be on the team, and hope to succeed.

Angela Tan

Hello! I'm Angela, a sophomore from Shanghai High School International Division. I grew up in Sunnyvale California and followed my parents to Shanghai China for further education. I love biological chemistry, and am recently studying in honor biology and AP chemistry class. History, especially western civilization, also interests me. Assembling 3-D puzzles and hanging out with my family member, Kido the cat, filled up my leisure time. In IGEM, I worked in the program manager team, where we coordinated the schedule, tracked the progress and collaborated all the events to make sure all deadlines and targets are met.

I’m enthusiastic in music and guitar. After being a biology representative in junior high school, I was fascinated by biology. I really enjoy the time I spend in preparing iGem with my teammates.During this time, we held group meetings regularly and share our experimental reports. As a team member, I always carefully analyze the experimental data. Moreover, share the tasks for the team leader or the advisers when necessary.

Terry

My name Terry- a member of iGEM Dry Group. The reason why I joined this project isthat, I want to spend my free time to do something meaningful. In the future study I will provoke myself to contribute more to our team, and I will also have deeper study on HPV.

Lea

Hello, world! I'm Lea Liu, a young boy from Westchester Country Day School in North Carolina and the same time, one of the team leaders of HPV Rangers. My primary goal for attending IGEM is to find my future major, but gradually I found that it is more interesting to finish our personal-design project with plenty of excellent contemporaries. An old saying says: there are countless possibilities in the future. This sentence perfectly matches the goal of our team.  Welcome to see our future in IGEM!

Derrick

Even though the abundant technical knowledge that iGEM offers in the field of synthetic biology and chemistry are not directly valuable to me, a high school student who intends to study Computer Science in university, the soft skills that iGEM helps to develop are undoubtedly ponderable to me. In particularly, iGEM has given me considerable room to develop my collaborative, communicative and time management skills. I believe that these skills would enable myself to reach better a higher potential in my academic works, careers, and personal life.

Yurui

I am Yurui Wu, a junior student from Caoyang No.2 High school, Shanghai. I am interested in much field, including life science, computer science and designing. Although these subjects don’t sound relevant, I believe that science and art are mutually enlightening, together leading to a brighter future. The reason why I joined the iGEM's human practice team is that I want to awaken public awareness of cervical cancer with my interdisciplinary skills, thus contributing to the cause of women’s health.

Eric

Hi, my name is Eric Wu. I am from Michigan and I am currently attending Cranbrook Schools as a boarding freshman. I have many interests but among my favourite are Biology, mathematics and chemistry. These subjects are highly relevant in IGEM and will help me contribute to our project effectively as a whole. My goal in partaking in this competition is to further my understanding in biology and chemistry as well as getting a taste of a professional science competition in the hopes of attending more later in my life.

Wonder

I am Jialei(Wonder) Wei from the Stony Brook School, NY. It may sound surprising that my main interest actually lies in environmental science, not synthetic biology. But I do believe the main objectives of those two are similar: to create a suitable yet sustainable world for humans to thrive on. I also realized that solving environmental issues requires much more than lab knowledge- publicization is the key. Therefore I joined iGEM's human practice team hoping to learn skills including raising public awareness and fundraising to better prepare myself for future environmental projects while contributing to the greater good of humanity.
