The characterization protein and early diagnosis of cervical cancer

Here we demonstrate specific protein expression variations related to NFX1 over-expression, a gene found to be closely associated with cervical cancer.

Fundraising

Objective
In order to raise sufficient funding for our future research and support our social activities, we scheduled a fundraising activity on August 6th. The fundraising process requires the team to introduce our topic and research to the attendees and help them understand the value, to capture the guest's attention and interest in an entertaining way, as well as to provide the guests with special souvenirs that mark our team’s hard work. We encouraged the guests to donate to our charitable cause. To fulfill these two objectives, our team planned some brief introductions of our synthetic biology research and social activities and certain talent shows to entertain the guests.

Progress
After a brief introduction about the event tonight, we opened up our fundraising event with a Chinese traditional flute performance to engage the crowd. We explained who we are and what we do as a team as well as what IGEM is to our guests. It was also necessary for us to familiarize our audience with the HPV and cervical cancer in order for them to better understand our mission. The rest of our presentation was divided into two sections: both the dry group and the wet group gave an overview of what they did over the past 2 weeks. Another musical performance, Pachelbel's Canon, concluded the presentation section and marked the start of our charity sale. Our host acquainted the guests with our products in a humorous way then initiated the sale.

Result
With all the hard work we have done, our teammates successfully made the guests realize the damage that the HPV virus could cause. And at the same time, they admitted the contribution we have done in popularizing the fundamental education of the HPV virus and vaccine.  Through the help form all the people with benevolence in our fund trading event, we have raised in total 3700 RMB for charity and further research on healing cervical cancer. In order to contribute more to society, we decide to donate that money to the charity organizations that are related to woman health. Our fundraising event came to an end with the audience buying our products with satisfaction.
