Thanks to all the following people. You helped us in different ways, whether with knowledge, devices or patience.
The SDU-CHINA 2019 team is responsible for most of the work of this project, including consumables purchase, project determination, experiment, the production of hardware and software and final display. But the help and support of others makes the process more interesting and smooth.
Our team combine light sensing with quorum sensing system to develop a light-controlled bacterial co-culture system. Through this system, we can directly control the proportion and amount of two bacteria in the co-culture system through light signals. Besides, we can achieve the dynamic regulation without contacting the culture system.
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to those who helped throughout the project: Special thanks and attributions go to:
Quanfeng Liang
Quanfeng Liang,a professor at Shandong University, is our first PI. He guided us from brainstorming, project design to experimental management. He is also our teacher in synthetic biology and alowed us to use his lab.
Shuning Wang
Shuning Wang, also a professor at Shandong University and our second PI, gave us introduction and allowed us to use his lab.
Qian Wang
Qian Wang, a vice professor at Shandong University and our second PI, helped us to design the project.
Wei Jiang
Dr. Wei Jiang, our consultant, provided the stable quorum sensing part and helped us to regulate the amount of the bacteria, which set a solid foundation for our project. Besides, he also gave us necessary guidance.
Yue Luo
Yue Luo, a master and our consultant, contributed to the project by helping us in project design and experiment management.
Yubo Wang
Dr. Yubo Wang, also our consultant, spent a lot of time giving the experimental training.
We want to acknowledge these who offered the technical support:
Chuangdong Wang
Chuangdong Wang, a postdoctoral researcher at the Shandong University, guided us and collaborated with us to use Confocal laser scanning microscope.
Zhifeng Li
Zhifeng Li, the technician, helped us to use flow cytometry in the experiments.
Thank the following people for fundraising help and advice:
Wei Zhang
Wei Zhang, a professor at Shandong University, helped us manage the lab and the team, as well as played an important role in get the economic support from the School of Life Sciences at Shandong University.
Weifeng Liu
Weifeng Liu, a professor at Shandong University, communicated with the Taishan college to acquire the funds for our project.
Thank the School of Life Sciences and the Taishan College for offering us the funds.
We want to express our appreciation for HP:
Shandong Jingzhi Liquor Co Ltd
TTCA Co., Ltd
Shandong Shouguang Juneng Golden Corn Co., Ltd
Genseida Food Co., Ltd
Thanks and acknowledgements for all other people involved in helping make a successful iGEM team:
SDU-CHINA 2018 for helping us organize the team
UCAS-CHINA 2018 for providing the plasmids and bacteria strains we need.
Linqiang Fang for his aid in brainstorming and project design.
Fan Zhang, Yulin Li and Aoxue Wang for their conductive advice in brainstorming.
Xiangyu Gao for giving us suggestions in Wiki and mathematical modeling.
Runze Zhang, for his help in HP
Shandong University had two teams participating in iGEM in 2018. Both teams were supported by the lab. In March 2019, the School of Life Sciences of Shandong University and the Taishan College jointly established the team and provided financial and technical support to the team.
The School of Life Sciences has been offering courses in synthetic biology. As we participated in the iGEM project, Taishan School also carried out related courses in 2019 and was taught by the first PI, Dr Quanfeng Liang. We learned about iGEM and synthetic biology in this class. We set up the team in March and started brainstorming. In late April we identified the final project and started the experimental training. We launched a full-scale project in May including experimentation, modeling, software hardware production and HP.
