Characterization

We characterized the part BBa_K590016 from UW iGEM Team 2011 which encodes the sfGFP-mamI fusion protein. MamI is a protein involved in magnetesome formation that localizes to the cell membrane. In this construct it is fused to sfGFP which acts as a fluorescent tag.

We characterized expression of this construct in E. coli BL21 by inducing with varying concentrations of IPTG and monitored OD₆₀₀ and fluorescence over 7 hours.
