WHOLE-CELL METABOLISM SBML MODELS
Whole-Cell Metabolism SBML Models become very crucial in rational Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic Biology. Especially with the availability of tools such as CoBRA and OpenFlux, it is now increasingly common to perform a metabolic flux balance analysis in order to design further experiments.
A major bottleneck while performing a Metabolic Flux Analysis is the availability of reliable Whole-Cell Metabolism SBML models. This year, the aim of our project was to enhance the yield of Camptothecin using a fungus. However, we could not do it as no Whole-Cell Metabolism SBML Models were available.
As a part of our iGEM 2017 project, we created Chassidex - a database of unconventional host-organisms. We made several improvements to Chassidex in 2018 and this year we have added whole-cell metabolism SBML models for various available strains in the database. We hope that these models would be useful to other iGEM teams and research groups to aid in rational experimental design for Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic Biology.
