Integrated Human Practices

Integrated human practices were really important for us as they shaped a big part of our project. We wanted to be certain that our product will be useful and adapted to the needs.
To do so we contacted all the organizations impacted by the problem:

Vine-grower insights

They are the ones suffering from the consequences of Flavescence Dorée...

Asking the right questions

We visited a vine grower in Chardonne, Switzerland and asked them a few questions about how their vines are impacted by the diseases

Understanding their pain point

Their vines are located in the hotspot of the vector. They had to destroy a big part of their vines due to the infection and are constantly in the “danger zone” in this region of Switzerland.

Validating and Optimizing our solution

An on-field test that they could conduct on a regular basis would allow them an early detection and will help prevent the spreading of the disease and hence cut down their losses

Agroscope

They are the. one trying to control it...

Establish connexions

Agroscope is the organization in charge of testing the leaves to detect the diseases. We contacted them early on in our project to know what is the current detection method as well as the necessary requirements for it.

understand the regulatory process

We learned that the detection of Flavesence dorée and Bois noir is necessary as well as a control. The detection of only Flavescence Dorée is not considered as a complete test, the detection of Bois Noir is also needed.
