  • Lisa
My name is Lisa. I come from High School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I am a girl who loves science. Participating in IGEM largely furthers my understanding of professional experiment, broadens my knowledge base, and improves my self-learning ability. Concentrating on a challenging project not only makes me learn from the advantages and talents of my teammates, but also cultivates my experimental thought capability. Although I confront frustrations during experiment, I learn that patience, reflection and cooperation are keys to countering obstacles. Among the team, I am responsible for doing experiments, writing articles, designing and recording offline interviews.
  • Dora
I am Dora Li Jia Yue from Shanghai Qibaodwight High School. In our team, I am responsible of doing plenty of experiments. In my daily life, I define myself as a positive smiling girl. I enjoy playing guitar as well as dancing. I find joy in meeting various people and exchanging different opinions with them. However, there’s one thing I felt so unconfident——my leadership. I tried my best to be a responsible leader , but I failed for more than once. When I decided to be a member of our IGEM team, I thought it would be a good way to enrich my biology knowledge. But it’s more than knowledge, l learn a lot from our experimental group leader——from how she helped me and distributed our work. Sometimes I felt lucky because what l learnt from her was not replaceable.
  • Jake
As for me, I come from Shanghai United International school (WanYuan Campus), and I really enjoy IGEM though there are some sophistication and difficulties. The reason why I say IGEM is enjoyable is that IGEM brings me some experience in synthetic biology and many new friends. Also, IGEM gives me a chance to innovate my own genes, which widen my sight in innovation-not only we can create macro product, but also produce some new things in micro area by some technologies.
    My roles:
    Doing the lab
    Analyzing some data
    Sharing progress of experiment
    Editing the wiki page
  • Jessica
My name is Jessica Hung, a rising junior from the Shanghai SMIC Private school, and this is my first year participating iGEM. As the wet lab team member and leader, I was at first greatly challenged because I am one of the youngest members among others and I was not as familiar to the laboratory equipments as my teammates. However, throughout the entire in-lab process, I developed my leadership skills by constantly communicating with other elder members and instructors, focusing on the central mission of our research, and creating laughters in the team.
    My Roles:
-Lead the team focusing on LAMP amplification
    -Writing our Wiki page information
-Remind my teammates of certain deadlines related to Wiki
  • Angel
My name is Zhou Jingyi. I’m from Inner Mongolia, Hohhot. I am very lucky to participate in the IGEM competition as a wet lab member, getting a lot of precious experience that I have never had before. I truly understand that remembering some rules does’t mean I master them. It is actually the basis. However, only after I have done the experiment step by step, making mistakes and correcting them, can I really learn something. IGEM sparked my interest in biology and allows me to discover my talent. Apart from this, I also made many good friends. We help each other and work together.
    Role:
    - Assist the teacher to do basic experiment
    -Write the experiment report
  • Irene
My name is Irene Tang. I am a student from Shanghai Yang Jing High School. I am really glad to participate in IGEM as a lab member. It is a good chance for me to learn a lot of knowledge and to learn how to behave properly in the professional laboratory. In the past, I was afraid of getting along with strangers. However , my group members are very kind and friendly, and they treat me nicely. Therefore, I have made a lot of new friends there ,and I am not afraid of dealing with strangers now. In the team, I am responsible for art and pictures. By, the way, the team logo is designed by me.

  • Fiona
My name is Fiona Xie, a senior from Shanghai America International School. I am deeply passionate about biochemistry, specifically, genetics and nutrition. I’d like my career to revolve around biochemistry, which I fondly call” the scalpel of god”, for I believe in the power of these amazing codes and formulas to induce change personally and globally. Therefore, I consider IGEM as an opportunity for me to not only enhance my academic knowledge but also professionalize my laboratory skills of this field. This is my first year of being an IGEMer, and I am so grateful and thrilled to work with this group of excellent people in such a sophisticated laboratory. This experience gives me a better idea of how the modern genetic engineering works and how can we use these novel techniques to resolve a variety of issues happening around the world.
  • Vikey

It is a great opportunity for me to enrich my lab experience and work in a team. Before this, I never had time to use bio equipment freely and did an experiment by ourselves. iGem gives me this valuable opportunity to make myself better; not only on how to do an experiment better but how to communicate with others and achieve the goal altogether. Among the team members, I was one of the most active one and most of the parts that we used in the experiment are made by me.
