Overview
An intelligent system of health monitoring and diabetes treatment is designed, basically using three parts of facilities: real-time blood glucose monitor, app on Android device and INSULEN waist pack(GECD: gene expression control device).
Using mobile app for real-time detecting and control, the whole system successfully provides a change to traditional experience about the treatment of diabetes, which is obviously much more convenient, flexible and patient-centered. The hardware we designed creates an efficient feedback system of keeping track of the blood glucose condition, which has great potential to be applied to a much wider area. The waist pack, meeting the trend of the development of smart wearable devices, provides a new probability of combining smart devices with health improvement.

Overview
In our human practices, we distributed questionnaires, interviewed several experts and made a lighting belt to improve our project. According to the questionnaires, we learned the public awareness of the diabetes mellitus type and found the potential market and some patients’ pain points need to be solved, which we paid more attention to following experiments and design. Also, on suggestions given by the industry insiders, we chose to use bacterial drugs with light-controlled part, pDawn. With the interview, we correct some points for security concerns. For example, we set the standards in the lighting module and made improvements with doctors’ clinical suggestions. There are more detailed improvements are visible in our wiki. Our project was changed greatly due to these really helpful feedback and suggestions.
Furthermore, apart from the project related to our experiments, we designed a game, made a cartoon video and held some educational activities. The game is about a war among different types of bacteria. Players need to defeat harmful bacteria with simple knowledge about synthetic biology. The video was made by our team introducing three kinds of bacteria commonly used in the labs with a short story, which is also a project working together with Tianjin University to realize our aim which is to popularize synthetic biology and iGEM. The video is about an adventure of three kinds of bacteria, BL21, TOP10 and DH5α. Its content and style are fit both for children and for those who know a little about synthetic biology, which is a quite new and adorable way to let people have access to synthetic biology and iGem.

Overview
To better popularize synthetic biology and iGEM, we applied different forms to realize our goal. Apart from the project related to our experiments, we designed a game, made a cartoon video and held some education activities. The game is about a virtual world of different types of bacteria. Players need to defeat harmful bacteria with simple knowledge about synthetic biology. The video was made by our team introducing three kinds of bacteria commonly used in the labs with a short story, which was also a project working together with Tianjin University. Furthermore, we contacted several schools in Shanghai and established an iGEM club in our school, with regular club activities every two weeks delivering speeches about synthetic biology and our project. Also, we give lectures to the local junior high school students. More details are visible in our wiki. Welcome to have a view.
