Aravind is a final year student of Biotechnology. He will never see him crack under
pressure and enjoys working with deadlines and manages to get things done every time.
He happens to be the designated driver for the team and ensures we get the materials
we need on time. Here's a few things about Aravind that you probably didn't know, he is
ambidextrous, and he collects coins! He also happens to be an avid gamer.
He often says you are never too busy for anything and it is only a matter of priority. His priorities happen to be Science, Food and Cricket. He chose to work in the field of Biotechnology to work closely with living organisms. He aspires to be a food scientist. Plating extraordinaire. Watching him plate leaves you in awe. One of his goals is to try the different modes of transports in India. He loves doing things which give him a kick of adrenaline and life to the fullest.
You will mostly find him behind the lens, capturing people's smile. Sometimes, he is the reason behind a person's laughter, making people laugh with his wit and humour. That's Deepak, a dynamic leader who manages to keep the team spirit up during long hours of work.
His focus of research in treating children with Autism by gene therapy techniques. He is currently working on Type 2 Diabetic disorder and co-culture stem cell techniques to treat MODY defects. He likes working in the wet lab and is always enthusiastic to learn new things.
Apart from all these, he believes in the magical powers a good cup of tea possesses. He adored dogs. His daily dose of dopamine comes from watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
A Robin Cook's book is his favourite companion and a keyboard, his favourite toy. He knows everything like the back of his hand when it comes to music and is also a gifted poet and a bike aficionado. A perfectly balanced mix of creative and logical thinking makes him who he is now.
If you hear someone ranting about all things fiction, it'd probably be Deeptha. She believes any goal can be achieved with the right attitude and effort. She has a wonderful work ethic and is loved by her peers. She enjoys watching movies and TV shows, ranging from crime drama to science fiction. If you've heard of a fandom, she's probably in it. She always finds the balance between her technical and non-technical interests which are a testament to her time management skills. She served as the Vice President of Atrium (the college literary club) and is an avid debater. She is known for her alarmingly vast knowledge of crime drama which fuelled her passion to pursue forensic science. She joined iGEM because she found the idea of working on a project from beginning to end, exciting and found that the competition being student-driven interesting. She also found it fascinating that the work extends beyond the lab, to reaching the community and peers.
If you ever wanted to meet someone always ready to pack a bag, go on impromptu trip with you, Hari is the person you have been looking for. He believes travelling is good for the soul. He questions everything and you will find him trying to figure out the mechanism behind everything when he is not cracking jokes that leave people gasping for air. He believes problems are nothing but reasons to look for creative and out of the box solutions. Being brought up in Kalpakkam, a town on the coast, Hari's fascination towards Marine Biotechnology is behind his choice for his bachelor's degree. He aspires to be a renowned entrepreneur in the future. Hari sees himself as a person who facilitates success by being the source of support to the people around him. Hari joined iGEM to be able to go beyond the bounds of academics. He loves that it is a platform for him to share his work with everyone and not just the scientific community. He wants to work with something that will help the society at large.
Probably the most composed person you'll ever come across. Her perseverance mirrors that of her favourite character Scarlett O' Hara. She loves the science behind biology and computers which eventually led her to the path of genetics. Her love for Genetic Engineering motivated her to join iGEM. Besides that, iGEM is a student-driven competition which will test her abilities as a team player and she found this as a unique opportunity. She loves to sit down and enjoy the simple things in life that are often taken for granted. Nothing can come between her and a book when she gets going. She leaves an everlasting impression on everyone she comes across with her amazing work ethic and contagious smile. Besides that, she keeps the child in her alive by watching cartoons. She's got quite a green thumb and has a thriving garden. She is an amazing storyteller and you can listen to her stories all day. She happens to be our very own Hermione Granger (you should ask her why). She hopes to work with finding cures for hereditary diseases in the future.
When you imagine a lab buddy with the perfect blend of responsibility and obsession for perfection, you will automatically think of Nivetha. She is completely devoted to the wet lab work and often expects results on the first try. Chandler Bing makes her laugh and her appetite matches that of Joey's. She strives for perfection in everything. The connection between circuits and Genetic Engineering predominant in Synthetic Biology drew her attention to this field. She believes in working responsibly and iGEM provides the perfect platform where creativity meets ethical practices. She is currently working on diabetes-related to high-fat food intake and obesity. Her focus of research is to treat patients with diabetes and heart-related problems using recent co-culture therapies. Apart from being a bio-wizard, she loves to eat rather than cooking. Books, music, and art keep her going. Watching soap operas is her guilty pleasure. You can see the gears turn in her head to come up with solutions relating to the problem statement. You can always turn to her in tough situations to put things in perspective.
Pooja, the social butterfly enjoys meeting new people. She enjoys reading mystery, science fiction and thriller novels. She is a fan of Agatha Christie's novels. She is rarely seen without a book. Contrary to popular opinion, she proudly states that she is not a fan of the Harry Potter novels (I wonder what that's like.). She loves playing the piano. She is also a singer with a blessed voice and a contemporary dancer. Talk about being talented! She is very good in event management and compeering is her favourite job to do. She loves adventures and enjoys the beauty of nature. She makes people around her feel comfortable and at ease. Her interests lie in the fields of Genetics, Stem cell and Cancer Biology, which is led to join the iGEM team and the reason why she is pursuing her Bachelor's in Biotechnology. She is a very dynamic person who adapts to any situation. She aims to become an entrepreneur in the field of Biotechnology. She works hard to see her dreams and aspirations fulfilled.
She is a third-year student of Biotechnology and a budding researcher. Confident and optimistic, she always believes if you work hard enough you can achieve great things. People who have met her have always found her cheerful. Her imagination knows no limits when she holds a brush. She says painting brings joy to her life. Her love for Biology and her innovative skills has brought her to iGEM. Biology has always been her forte right from school. This further developed into a passion and now she hopes to be a researcher. This wonderful collaboration of biology with every advancement today piqued her curiosity led to where she is now. Her unique perspective to approach anything in life leaves everyone in awe of her. With a head full of ideas and heart full of wonder, being a part of the team has helped her direct some of those ideas in the right direction. Talking about her future she aspires to learn more about the promises of Biotechnology and find out ways to help the people in need.

Sneha is a third-year student of Biotechnology. She is an avid reader and finds immense pleasure in reading the works of Agatha Christie. She finds happiness in travelling to hill stations and reading about ancient monuments and temples. She believes that participation is far more important and doesn't pass on an opportunity to showcase her talent. She enjoys spicy food and is a fan of Biriyani. She loves cycling (Explains why she's tall). She is seen constantly pushing herself to take up new challenges. She is soft-spoken but drives a hard bargain and her work ethic is impeccable. A combination of fervour and curiosity towards Biology and Genetics has led to join iGEM team. She enjoys working in the lab, being a detail-oriented person and interprets the concept behind every experiment. She aspires to be a full-time researcher by pursuing research in drug discovery from natural products.
A passionate and curious soul about how all things work and their intricacies. She has a thirst for knowledge that isn't quite satisfied until all her questions are answered. She knows not what rest is until the work gets done. She strives for absolute perfection in everything and doesn't settle for anything less. She believes that there are no substitutes to hard work and dedication when working to be the best. She loves to sing in her downtime and unwind. You can always hear her humming a tune that is stuck in her head. Being gifted in the arts, she spends her free time converting her thoughts into paintings. Sneha has always wondered about what makes us tick which has led her to love and learn everything about Molecular Biology, Genetics and Cell Biology. Her fascination with the idea of engineering things at the genetic level drew her to iGEM. She plans things out to help her teammates do their work without any obstacles, which is one of the reasons she makes an amazing team leader.
Enthusiastic and with a personality as bright as the sun Soundira Raja is always fun to be around. If there was ever a person aptly named it would be him. The first half of his name perfectly resonates with his bold and energetic personality. He is always looking for a way to scare fellow members to keep the team spirits up. He loves being in an argument so he can always learn new things with an open mind. He leaves some people wondering when he gets his work done because he appears to be having fun all the time. He spends most of his time in the world of anime which inspired him to learn the Japanese language. He chose the field of Biotechnology to be able to contribute to Synthetic Biology and so joining iGEM was a natural choice. He believes that it doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get up after that. When you watch him work you can see the passion come through. He aspires to become a remarkable genetic scientist in the future.
She is a final year student pursuing Biotechnology. She is a vivacious, smart and courageous, always seen with a smile on her face. She is a diligent person and believes that "There's always a way if you are committed." She is an absolute joy to work with. Dedicated and efficient in everything she does. She makes the best out of every situation. She loves anything that is to do with art and craft. She draws inspiration from life and imagination which makes her work relatable. She loves to dance and finds it has a soothing effect on her. Apart from dance, she also takes part in sports. She thrives on taking up new challenges and constantly sets new goals for herself and she loves taking risks. Her fascination with genes and how they build life led her to choose a career in Biotechnology. She is miles away from ordinary and her love and passion for Science made her join iGEM. She is passionate about teaching and hopes that one day she can open a tuition centre to work closely with children.
Being quite the philosopher, she says creation aims for doing good to the society and believes any problem could be solved with the application of Science. She fell in love with Science during school and has since been inspired to become a scientist. Her love for nature and to solve its problems led her to explore biotechnology. She hopes to provide solutions for a sustainable future. She believes Synthetic Biology could be the answer to issues like food crisis, environmental problems etc., which led her to join iGEM. She is extremely passionate about working in R&D stream and take on the responsibility to serve the society. Her curiosity knew no bounds and is often seen reading books about Science and spirituality. She loves listening to Carnatic music. Art is a major part of her day and she believes it has rejuvenating powers. She loves cooking for her friends and family. She happens to be powerhouse of the team (Pun intended), and she aspires to fulfil her lofty goals.
Curious since '99. Vignesh has always been a quick learner and is always looking for new concepts to learn. If you ask him what makes him tick, he would say cricket and music, but he doesn't do well with deadlines. Capable of blending logic with romance, he writes poetry inspired by both science and love. He has an interesting take on everything in life which makes for an entertaining argument to watch. He is fond of anything with sugar in it. Perhaps a reason for being hyperactive. Wanting to apply mathematical and physical concepts to biology, he chose to work in the field of Biotechnology. During his undergraduate study, he was looking for a platform where he could apply Synthetic Biology in a way that it could help humanity and it led him to join iGEM. Inspired by the quote, "The best way to learn is to teach". His life goal is to start a school where he could sow the seeds of science in young minds. He wants to be a life-time learner and do things by being simple and thinking different.
When she not designing web pages, she loves cooking and is always on the lookout for new recipes to give a try. She is a Carnatic singer and she grabs every opportunity to sing and entertain her friends and family. She finds being surrounded by her friends helps her stress less and loves taking naps in between classes to rejuvenate herself. As a student of Computer Science Engineering, she loves to code and has been involved in the development of many web pages. She was a natural choice for us, you see. She is enthusiastic and loves giving us creative options. She helps us in designing the page along with the other designers.
Also from Computer Science Engineering Vaishnavi is one of the designers of the wiki page. She loves to design web pages too. What can we say we hit the jackpot. She has a vivid imagination. She loves to read and dance among other things. She is also a Ball Badminton player. She is one of those people who loves watching they eat. So, naturally, she enjoys cooking. She is quite hyper and always eager to help in every way. Though a programmer, she always loved Biology and when the opportunity to combine the two came, she took it in a split second.
