Safety Rules and Procedures are formulated to avoid health risks and accidents of the personnel working in the laboratory to ensure good work conduct and practices thus minimizing the environmental burden and risks caused by our work.
For characterization of the existing biobrick, the antimicrobial assay was carried out in E. coli DH5alpha, Bacillus subtilis to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). Also, hemolytic assay was performed using bovine blood under biosafety conditions regulated by NCBS (National Centre for Biological Sciences).
For validating our project, we carried out transfection of RNAi in HeLa cell line. The cell line we procured is commercially available and has been certified to be free from pathogens. WHO guidelines for the characterization and testing of cell line were followed to ensure safe laboratory practices.
