Team introduction
Hello everyone ! We are glad to attend to the 2019 iGEM competition as the Orléans team. We are a group of Master's degree students from the University of Orleans that decided to join the iGEM adventure. For all of us, it's a brand new experience. It was tough to implement it in our university, but we had a lot of support from everyone and we don't regret it ! We had a lot of fun and carry-out a whole scientific project on our own was a verry fulfilling experience.

about me : My name is Quentin and I am in my second year of a Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular and Cellular Biology and I am passionate about innovation and new technologies. Last year I decided to form a team for the iGEM competition after hearing about it from a trainee student who had participated in the competition in 2017. At first the project seemed crazy and impossible, but finally it resulted in a great team, strong support from our teachers and motivated partners who will always be friends.

fun fact : During the paintball session, I was too proud of my victory over Raphael in the last game. But one minute after the start of the next game, I took 3 bullets in the butt..... At that moment, I felt like Forest Gump, something had stung me! After that, I couldn't sit for two days.

about me : My name is Alexandre Rutault and I'm currently doing my last Master's degree year in molecular and cellular biology. I'm one of the funder members and I'm an active member of the scientific team. I'm particularly interested in physiology and pathology and I could adapt my cellular culture knowledge to bacterial culture. Besides sciences, I love music and climbing.

fun fact : When I was preparing the heavy metal solution, I was feeling like Darth Vador with my gloves and mask. *loud breathing noise* ...Cupriavidus...I'm your father !

about me : My name is Thibault. I’m in the second year of a Master’s degree in Biotechniligies, Molecular and Cellular Biology at the university of Orleans interested in bioinformatics. It is my first participation to the iGEM competition. I have expecially contributed to the projet design and to the developpement of the wiki.

fun fact : During the paintball we made at the end of hollidays with the team, i though i could do without my glasses. My forehead met a nice metal bar. I eventually changed my mind.

about me : I’m Raphaël, I were studying in the first year of a Master degree in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Orléans. Attending to this first year of iGEM competition was a true pleasure. I especially participated to the creation of the association and, to a lesser extent, to the lab experiments during this summer.

fun fact : During the paintball, I was hidden in the bank and Quentin guessed it without any clue.

about me : I am a member of the iGEM Orléans team and the last one to have joined the team. I am also a student at the University of Orléans very interested in protein engineering

fun fact : On several occasions, I have inadvertently pressed one of the emergency stop buttons in the laboratory. So I had to bother someone every time to put the electricity back into the lab.

This is my first participation at the iGem competition, and I tried to be there to help my team with the different aspects of the project whenever I could.

fun fact : It's true that I'm quite thin, so my friends didn't expect me to be the person who eats the most when we went out as a team to the Chinese restaurant at will. But I must admit that Thibault is a serious competitor.

about me : Hello, I am currently, like my most of my teammates in the second year of a Master's degree in Biology at the University of Orléans, focusing on neuroscience and animal behaviour. I love to travel and discover new things, one of my dreams is to go around the world!

fun fact : iGEM is really a funny experience, especially when you lose the lab team in the corridors of a lab you don't know... It's not easy to find them, they run fast !

about me : I have been an associate Professor of Biochemistry at University of Orléans since 10 years, mostly working on using Carbohydrate Active Enzymes (CaZYmes) as biocatalysts in chemoenzymatic synthesis. I enjoyed working with Metal’Ose IGEM group, and was impressed by their involvement spirit to lead this project, even during troubled times… As my colleague Arnaud pointed out, thanks again for the delicious putrid smells cultures in our lab. Always a pleasure !

about me : I am assistant professor in biochemistry and biotechnology for 25 years at the University of Orleans. My expertise is particularly in cell metabolism. After focusing on metabolism in brain tumors, my research focused on metabolic alterations in fragile X syndrome, a severe mental retardation. One day, I give them a key, which opens a door, a room is transformed, into a magic cave by white smocks of iGEM-Orléans.

about me : I have been an associate Professor of Biochemistry and Microbiology at University of Orléans since 15 years. In my lab, the Center for Molecular Biophysics (CBM), I’m working on GALIG, a human gene embedded in the Galectin-3 gene has been initially described as a proapoptotic gene. We investigate GALIG gene expression and others genes in different pathologies, as HIV infection.

about me : I am a lecturer in molecular biology at the University of’Orléans. I teach to undergraduate, and first year master degree students in the areas of biotechnologies and plant virology. Also, as a researcher at the LBLGC, I work on a signaling pathway associated to drougth in poplar. It’s all about studying at the molecular level osmosensor type receptor in order to be able to copmrehend the perception of drougth in plants and thus to enhance plant toloerance to this environmental stress.

about me : I am lecturer in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Orléans. In addition, as a researcher at the LBLGC, I am involved in studies aimed at revegetating sites contaminated by heavy metals (mining sites). To do this, we use amendments that promote the growth of selected plants and also affect the bioavailability of pollutants. My work focuses in particular on the molecular responses developed by different plant species to metal stress.

I am very glad to be part of the iGEM competition because I think it is a great adventure for future researchers. I learned a lot about your teamwork and especially about your unlimited involvement in your research theme. Thanks to you for these small smells diffused in our offices, these smells diffuses in the air delighted our olfactory systems!
