Project Inspiration and Description
The idea of create a super bacteria who is capable to remove heavy metal from
sewage sludge and produce bioethanol from sewage cellulose came during
brainstorming and from an idea of waste valorization in our local environment
who is an agricultural district.

Characterization / Contribution
We contributed to charaterize the BBa_K1122673 from edinburgh 2013 team. For more information, please visit our Contribution page or the BBa_K1122673 part page.
Silver
Validated Part / Validated Contribution
We characterized these three 2019 parts that we designed for our project : BBa_K3309000, BBa_K3309002 and BBa_K3309003.
Collaboration
Our team had the chance to collaborate with WLC-Milwaukee working on an
exange of our product in order to complete each other device.
We also could collaborate with Washington by translating activities in French for
them.

Human Practices
Our human practices focused on the valorization of waste into a local integrated
circular economy. Our region is mostly involved in agriculture and the heavy
metal bioremediation could allow farmers to fertilized their crops with more clean
sewage when the metal can be re-used in industry. We also think about a new
bioethanol pathway to develop our country renewable energy.

Gold
Integrated Human Practices
Following on from our previous Silver medal criteria, we went exanges most in
details with the workers of the water treatment plant to understand the problems
they currently have with heavy metal and cellulose and we worked on a possible
industrial application of our system in order to help them solve their problems.
