Wu Yu-jin
My name is Wu Yu-jin, and I am from Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang No.1 High School. I am the team leader of Nanjing High School Dry Lab. My duty is to assign tasks to my team every day and check the quality of the documents they submit. Usually, I will contact professors and companies concerned with the project and coordinate their time to further develop the project. My goal is to make our team the best in the 2019 iGEM competition.
Kong Shu-heng
I am Shuheng Kong from Nanjing Foreign Language School Xianlin Campus. I am the team leader of Nanjing High School Wet Lab. I dream to become a Pharmacologist, so I have been dying to do experiment for years. This summer, I had a chance to stay at the laboratory for two weeks. As the team leader of Wet lab, I organized my teammates to learn knowledge about synthetic biology, which is amazing. Every time before an experiment got started, I would divided the team into several groups, each group assigned differently. By giving these groups non repetitive tasks each time we did an experiment, every person were extremely familiar with the whole process when we left the laboratory. I am conscientious for the whole experiment. At last, I hope our project can do good to the world.
Chen Yu-chen
I am Yuchen Chen from Capehenry College, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Biochemistry is my favorite area and I spend a lot of time on it. During my grade nine summer break, I stayed at the laboratory for two months, focusing on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. This summer, bringing all my knowledge and experience, I join this team and challenge synthetic biology. I am the leader of the team. I am mainly responsible for the experimental section in the team. Hopefully we will use the cells which we build by ourselves to study more about blue light.
Xu Ce
My name is Xu Ce from Wuxi Big Bridge Academy. In our iGEM team, Nanjing High School, I usually help my teammates and instruct them to experiment at the beginning. Since I already have experience in such biological experiments, I can find out if my teammates did anything wrong, and I’m pleased to see them become more and more skilled in their operations. On the other hand, I act as a coordinator in the team just as I do in my class and in my daily life. In this team, I am glad to see everyone stay harmoniously and works hard to achieve our goals.
Liu Jing-jing
My name is Jing-jing Liu. I am a student from Nanjing Foreign Language School Xianlin Campus. I'm usually a slow warmer. I usually like to watch movies in my spare time. It can make me feel relaxed. In this IGEM event, I am honored to join the dry team. I am also very happy to be a teammate with many excellent people. In the dry team, my main responsibility is to write some interviews, design questionnaires and purchase products. It was a great exercise for me to participate in this activity. I learned a lot, such as how to communicate with people in different positions and how to write some papers. Finally, thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in this event.
Tang Yue-rou
Hi, I am Tang Yue-rou, a twelfth grader from Nanjing Jinling High School. It is my honor to be part of NJHS team. My role in the team is basically to perform experimental operations. Although I had some prior lab experiences, it is still a great challenge, as it is always difficult to put the knowledge learned in books into real situations to solve problems. However, I believe this challenge gives me more insight into the field of biology which I intend to study in the future.
Ding Yi-xin
My name is Ding Yi-xin from High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University IB Diploma. With years of growing accompanied with competitions and interest cultivating, I’ve grown into a girl with a global view, great ability of logical thinking, and much better ability of self-expressing. When I was in my primary school, I won the first award of many math competition such as Hua Luogeng Cup. Also, I became little reporter of a newspaper publisher here in Nanjing and published lots of articles onto it. Then I received the preferential admission from Nanjing Foreign Language School. Now as an IB student, I attended a winter camp of drones, 3D printing camp, and is also one of the coders of school’s FTC team. What’s more, I am the leader of school’s debate team. In my iGem research team, I stay as the researcher and the laboratory technician. With lots of record keeping, I now learn the whole process of a biology research and can also come up with new ideas of research methods.
Wu Tian-hao
Hello, everyone! My name is Tian-hao Wu from Jiangsu Province, China. I am responsible for searching for information and writing articles about our project. Later on, these articles are published on social medias to increase our 'sphere of influence' and let common people get to know about blue light. Talking about my hobbies, I am absolutely a sports-boy and my friends always call me a 'sports-king' because I'm good at playing basketball, football, table tennis, badminton, high jump, long jump, sprint and long-distance running. I also love playing magic cubes: average 5s for second order and 15s for third order.
Fan Wan-ying
My name is Catherine Fan from Nanjing Foreign Language School. I operate experiments in the team. I join this team for I am interested in subjects associated with biology and chemistry. During our experiments, I operate PCR, extract plasmid and identify plasmid by restriction enzyme splicing and gel electrophoresis. Besides, I help my teammates arrange photos of gel electrophoresis and experiment records. Since everyone has paid a lot of efforts, I firmly believe that my team can make great progress.I also learn a lot during the experiments, which will further encourages me to study in this field.
Tang Ze-quan
physics engineering. In this team, I am responsible to make some researches including operating PCR, obtaining plasmid and identifying plasmid by alkali splitting and gel electrophoresis. Besides, some of videos and photographs which record our experiments are shot by me since video editing and photography are my major hobbies. I really expect our research will be successful since all of team members have paid lots of effort.
Lu Fu-lai
My name is Rifle. My Chinese name is Fulai Lu. I am a student of Nanjing Foreign Language School. I am a member of the dry group and in charge of collecting interview material and then submit it to the Internet. I am a outgoing person, so really thank for this competition can give me the chance to meet more people.
Zhong Jia-an
My name is Jiaan Zhong. As a girl in Grade 11, I take IB program in High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University. Since I plans to choose Biology, especially genetic engineering as my future major, I became a member of wet lab where is closer to experiments. The tasks for a researcher are of great fun to me. During the project, we are required to be careful and patient. Because a tiny error may cause a huge difference at last. And mostly, even a small difference is not allowed. Additionally, I still tried to do something for dry lab as well. I tried to design the suit and sang for fundraising. Though not as successful, they still leave me experience.
Chenyu Liu
My name is Liu Chenyu, and I am a team member of wet lab. Differed from my team mates, I come from Chongqing, a city which is famous for the frank personality of its people. I usually spend a lot of time on playing sports, and it is not exaggerated to say I am the strongest person in the team. As a result, I play the role of “porter” and help my teammates to deal with all kinds of equipment and reagent. I once carried a bucket which is over 200 ponds and moved it across the 30 meters lab. Besides, I also remember the position of every equipment and reagent so my teammates will never worry about losing lab appliance.
Xufeng Chen
Hi, everyone. I’m Auroch Chen Xufeng from Nanjing IGEM dry team. I am now studying at Nanjing Foreign Language School British Columbia Academy.
I like spend my spare time playing football, working out, reading, watching movies, etc.
I am a sports fan, as you can see in my following chapters. I am a huge football fan, since there are few people in China know about this sport, I really want you to contact me, if you are interested in this sport, too. This summer, our IGEM team focuses on advocating a healthy life and stays away from blue light. As a team member, I put my sight on researches about blue light and its side effects on human. I also interview many professors and ask for their opinions about our project. My teammates and I corporate well and make great achievements on our dry team part. This experience will be engrave on my mind and I am sure it will impress you as well.
Lin Jia-yi
Hi! My name is Jiayi Lin, but you guys can call me Louisa as well(which makes you guys a lot easier, I guess;) ). I lived in Nanjing for five years, and now I'm a Junior in Saint Anthony's high school in NY. I'm a girl who loves all kinds of fluffy animals (especially ragdoll cats ). During my free time, I enjoy doing things about art. So even I'm a wet lab team member, I designed the team uniform and got involved in some art working parts.
This is my first year doing iGEM. Genetic engineering and biology attracts me a lot! I thought this competition would help me figure out if it's something I want to pursue in the future. And that's pretty much why I chose to join this excellent team and decide to get involved in iGEM 2019, and I'm looking forward to having a great experience in Boston with you guys!
