The Trip To Multan
We took part in the Blue Fair at Multan which took place in August which brought together local artisans textile companies and their shareholders from Multan and all over Pakistan to display the various cultural products they had for display and sale. Our target was the textile brands and cloth makers who would be interested in sponsoring our research into the bio dye. We told them about our project which is about synthetic dyes by examining natural dyes such as Carthamin Red from the Safflower plant. We interacted with an estimated 500 people ranging from adults to children and told them about our project and synthetic biology and asked them about the ethical concerns regarding synthetic biology and the environmental impediments as it reduces crop cutting in the primary industry of harvesting the crops or the certain thistles/flowers which are used to produce natural dyes, reduces sewage and waste products made by the dye production industry and finally, benefits the consumers too as the process synthetically produced dye is more efficient and result producing thus reducing the costs. We gave the people there brochures and business cards consisting of our team information.
