Collaboration with Hong_Kong_LFC_PC

In July, 2019, for communication with other iGEMers and for giving suggestions on each other’s project, a team from Hong Kong visited our lab. They were yet to decide their project’s theme at that time, struggling between 2 topics: one is to detect uric acid, and the other is to detect cancer. We helped them to decide the topic that was more appropriate for iGEM competition.

Collaboration with NJTech_China

NJTech_China is an iGEM team from Nanjing Tech University. Their project focuses on breast cancer and aims to help preventing the cancer from evading the immune system by implementing a trap between Tumor and T cells. We met this team in CCiC, and at that time, we were finding yeast expression system to improve the yield and performance of our recombinant protein as suggested by Professor Zhong. NJTech_China provided us with yeast strain Pichia pastoris GS115 and protocol( see Methods) for cloning, and she passionately helped us to debug (e.g., decreasing the density of competent cells to get better transformation efficiency) online when we encountered difficulties in experiments. Besides, we together discussed methods for protein cloning, as well. Their help enabled us to experiments with yeasts, which greatly helped our project.
