BioBrick tutorial

Once again we hosted the annual BioBrick tutorial at DTU. Thank you so much to everybody who participated. We're looking forward to seeing you again next year.

On the 12th-14th of April, we hosted the 7th annual DTU BioBrick Tutorial and people from Chalmers-Gothenburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Lund, SDU, Stockholm, Oslo, and Uppsala participated in the weekend-long event. The event aimed to give the nordic teams an introduction to iGEM through a mixture of presentations and laboratory exercises. With the BioBrick Tutorial being held early in the iGEM season, it gave the Nordic teams a chance to meet each other for the first time, and have a lot of fun together.

The entire team worked hard before the event in order to prepare lab protocols and materials, book hotels, order food, plan the schedule, arrange talks, and plan social activities.
During the event, members from the 2018 iGEM team had kindly agreed to help with the experiment and social activities.

On the first day of the event, speakers with previous experience with iGEM were invited to give talks introducing different aspects of the competition, including synthetic biology principles and human practices. After dinner, the night was concluded with a pub quiz to bring people from different teams together.
The second day of the event was a rather long day filled with a laboratory exercise where participants were tasked with performing a 3A assembly to build their own BioBrick. Additionally, several talks and workshops were held and in the evening there were different social activities and networking. On the last day, there were a few more presentations from previous iGEM participants, before the results from the previous day were checked.
The full schedule can be seen here.
