Team:WHU-China/Human Practices

Overview

STRATEGY

Since our project is related to the field of cultural relics restoration, when we designed the project, we should take the principles of restoration, the opinions of experts and the public acceptance into consideration. We hoped to modify and improve our design constantly through human practices from three strategies.

  • For professors

--The most direct way to get professional guidance and promotion for our project is to visit and interview those masters engaged in cultural relic restoration. In different stages of our projects, we visited museums and conservation centers. For one thing, these visits definitely solved quantities of questions about the restoration in our different stages, for another thing, they provided us numerous inspirations that further improved our project. Three of our human practices made sense in different period of our project. You can learn more at Integrated HP.

  • For the public

--In China, the field of cultural relics restoration has got increasing attention from the public. In the application of synthetic biology in the restoration of such precious relics, we have to get diverse opinions from the public and take them into consideration as well. Thus we also did some human practices that concerned the public. We collected and analyzed their opinions to evaluate and improve our projects. You can learn more at Public Engagement.

  • For ourselves

--China has a long history and brilliant civilization, this year our project provided us the opportunity to learn more about Chinese history. Thus, we encouraged our team members to pay visits to museums during their spare time and take a closer look at those relics that bearing historical significance. Up till now, our Footprints has covered half of China !
