Attributions

Tufts iGEM, or Tufts Synthetic Biology Team, is and has always been a student-run endeavor. We are proud of our independence, but we could not have accomplished so much without help. Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way!

Team Member Contributions

Anna: Anna did lab work and collaborated with Trevor over the summer and taught new members about the project

Aiden: Aiden designed the plasmid constructs and came up with planning for our protocol with help from Trevor, basing it on existing literature. He also corresponded with the Gralnick lab and Timko lab to obtain the strain, and ensure electrical testing could eventually be done, if we made it so far.

Kenny: Kenny was responsible as iGEM administrative chair for organizing school-year meetings for research planning and securing university funding.

Isaac: Isaac Shure inspired the initial project idea, and contributed to the design of the arabinose construct.

Mina: Mina contributed by running experimental portions of the project over the summer with Anna and Aiden.

Jack: Jack helped with project design and later experiments, and formatted the wiki page with html.

Donations

Thank you to the Tufts Community Union Senate for funding our team's iGEM competition registration fees.

Inspirations & Project Basis

Cornell iGem: We were inspired by the Cornell iGem's 2012 project, which used a similar method to create an electric biosensor.

Technical Insight

Dr. Nikhil Nair served as advisor for Tufts iGEM and provided assistance in scientific and administrative matters.

Trevor Nicks: Trevor is a grad student in the Nair Lab who assisted us by letting us in to the lab space, and teaching us necessary protocols such as miniprep, PCR, and bacterial culture. He also grew our strains when we were not able to make it into the lab, and relayed all sequencing results.

Dr. Vikas Trivedi : Dr. Trivedi ensured our access to the lab and helped us to complete some of our experiments.

Lab Space

We would like to thank the Nair Lab for providing assistance and lab space to perform our experiments.

Thank you iGEM Foundation for providing our team with a great experience!
