Project Description

At present, bandage on the market can treat wounds, prevent edema of residual limbs, and relieve pain, but it is not conducive to observing wounds, and a large number of bacteria are easily produced on wounds. So we are going to study a convenient production of antibacterial dressings to reduce the probability of wound infection, to avoid the deterioration of wound infection, and finally we chose bacterial cellulose.

Our project is how to simplify the production of bacterial cellulose membranes. Bacterial cellulose membrane is a good dressing with good biocompatibility. Bacterial cellulose (BC) refers to Acetobacter, Agrobacterium, and nodules under different conditions. A generic term for cellulose synthesized by a microorganism of Rhizobium and Sarcina. Bacterial cellulose forms a unique textured structure and has high water absorption and high water retention due to "nano effect", high transmittance to liquids and gases, high wet strength, good biocompatibility, and wet state. High mechanical strength, especially in the wet state, can be processed in situ. High purity and excellent performance make bacterial cellulose fibers widely used in medical materials, and bacterial cellulose can be used as artificial skin for temporary dressing of wounds. But it is not antibacterial and there is still a risk of wound infection.
