Safety

Safety is, luckily, not the largest concern with our project. Agro is not a threat to humans, and we have taken measures to insure that it does not enter the soil of potential hosts. Our bacterium are contained within a -80oC freezer at all times and are only removed for the purposes of transformations or plating colonies. Although our project was not completely finalized, should a final product be made, we would want to be sure that it is truly unable to transmit Ti plasmids into plants. Otherwise, this new strain would be more of a problem than a solution. To accomplish this task, we would want to perform several rounds of experiments in a controlled greenhouse using our new strain, being sure to notice the presence or lack of tumor formation.
