Agro Immunity

Abstract: Our project aims to enhance response to parthenogenesis in plants. Specifically, we'll be focusing on the mechanism Agrobacterium uses to create tumors in plants, using a two-component signaling mechanism involving the proteins VirA and VirG. Through the use of Ti plasmids and utilizing previous work done with this mechanism, we will ultimately be inserting a mutant of VirA into the genome of Agrobacterium along with a gene producing curdlan in order to stimulate an immune response in the plant before tumorigenesis begins.
