Team Information

Pui Ching Middle School is one of the leading school in Macau, reflecting by the students excellent academic performances regionally or even internationally. It has long been a tradition that Pui Ching does not only focus on the students' academic performances but also values the students' moral performances as a crucial part in their school life.

Pui Ching has obtained a relatively high reputation in its success of S.T.E.A.M. education among schools in the Pearl River Delta. The idea of S.T.E.M. has been proposed in Western countries for many years which emphasizes the education of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Pui Ching elaborates on the idea by adding an "A" to it, from S.T.E.M. to S.T.E.A.M., reflecting the role of Arts for students' full development.

Wai Man Cheong

Principal Investigator

I am Wai Man Cheong, an instructor of our team: PuiChing Macau. We have been collaborating with the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Macau and also various alumni of our school around the world to eagerly work on this project. iGEM embodies a variety of aims in multiple fields and it is evidenced by the massive collection of activities, which will not just be a challenge, but an exciting experience for us all. Together as a team, we will strive for our best and I do believe it will be an exciting opportunity.

Benny Lao

Hi, my name is Benny, a form 6 student from Pui Ching Middle School Macau. I am the team leader of our iGEM team. My primary job is to coordinate the whole project, and give supports to everyone. Furthermore, as I love photography, I usually take photos during some workshops or other activities. Cooperating is the foremost spirit I have learnt since participating iGEM, it is one of the essential requirements for being a civil engineer, which is my dream career.

Hi! I’m Franklin and I am in charge of the media team of the Pui Ching iGEM team this year. I am really happy to be a part of this team and be able to contribute by doing what I love. My dream is to be able to study Computer Science in the United States and facilitate the lives of people all around the world. Hello, my name is James. I am the outreach director of IGEM Puiching Macau. My job is to build a relationship between our research and the public. Letting people know what are we doing now and also disseminate related knowledge to the society.

Linda Xiang

My name is Linda Xiang who is studying in the science subject in the Senior 1 of Macau Pui Ching Middle School, and I am a member of the experimental group of iGEM in 2019. In peacetime learning and research with other iGEM members, interest is my biggest teacher, and like my teammates, I enjoy every minute and second because of iGEM and assembly. I believe that we will have a wonderful time and make a contribution to the world and the development of genetic engineering during participation in iGEM. Collision and realization of the crystallization of our ideas and work miracles.

Sandy Mo

Hi! I’m Sandy Mo from Pui Ching Middle School, a member of the Laboratory team in our iGEM team. I am not an active person, and I really enjoy doing the lab work. I will try my best to finish our project this year!

Rex Pao

I am Pao Kin Tong (Rex) from Macau Pui Ching Middle School. I was born in drizzling April and I am sixteen years old now. My position is the treasurer, who is responsible for the finance of my term. My dream is to become a physician.

Jeremy Hu

I am Jeremy Hu, a Form 5 student studying in Macau Pui Ching Middle School. Being a member of the experiment team has brought me about both knowledge and experimental techniques in Genetic Engineering. During the intense process of experiment, I have learnt the necessity of team spirit which is indubitably essential for group collaboration. Furthermore, I also enjoy spending my leisure time playing the violin and volleyball.

Karina Yuen

I am Karina Yuen, a Form 4 student of our team Puiching Macau. Participating in the experiment team has greatly increased my curiosity in Biology, especially the genetic engineering aspect. In spite of the knowledge in Science, collaborating with our teammates is also the main that which I have learnt through this project. Moreover, I love spending my pastime to play the piano and the clarinet.

I am Donald, a high school student studying at Pui Ching Middle School. Having enthusiasm in biology, I participated in iGEM to gain further knowledge and experience. I like to read books and play video games in my free time, but I also like to play badminton with my friends too.

I have learned about genetic engineering before, and this time I hope to combine what I've learned and also assist in the creation of the wiki.
