Collaborations

Concordia-Montreal

Our team was able to collaborate with the Concordia-Montreal iGEM team in a few aspects. This collaboration began due to the similar nature of our projects; both of our teams are working on developing opioid biosensors. However, our projects also differed greatly. Our Human Practices teams were able to work together toward achieving some common goals.

The first aspect of our collaboration with Concordia-Montreal was editing each others' interview questions. Both of our teams had chosen to conduct these interviews before we had decided to collaborate and this was a great way to share our perspectives on our interview questions.

The second aspect of our collaboration was the creation of a map of supervised injection sites and other opioid-related resources in our respective provinces. This was a really interesting way to compare each of our teams' areas and what kind of resources were available in each.
This map is available for viewing here.

US AFRL CarrollHS

Our collaboration with US_AFRL_CarrollHS was a really exciting opportunity for us; we are a part of their Wiki Wealth of Knowledge initiative, where they are building a guide to help future teams in creating their wikis for the iGEM competition. As a newer team with little experience making a wiki, the chance to help review and contribute to a wiki guide was perfect for us. Given that we are a team that did not have experience with a wiki before, we felt that we could use what we had learned and what barriers we had encountered to help future teams. We opted to provide insight into approaching the wiki for teams with little HTML or CSS knowledge. As such, we added a section aimed at young teams like ours with information on the structure of the wiki, getting started with HTML, and modifying the template, among other topics.
