  • Pranav S R, Sayantan Datta, Varsha Jaisimha, Utkarsh A Mahajan and Abhinav Masih are part of the wet lab team and carried out all the experiments concerning our project. Shubhankar Londhe, Nishant Baruah and Supratim Das are part of the modelling team who handled all the modelling of the project
  • Pranav is involved in developing the Blue light inducible promoter which involves cloning 6 parts in a specific order and characterizing it by using E.coli MG1655 competent cells
  • The feedback loop system of our project is worked on by Sayantan which involves building the CIts2 feedback system and characterizing it. He is also the one who worked on building the “blue light box” in which our light intensity modulating experiments are carried out
  • Varsha is involved in making our mutagenic plasmid by combining the blue light composite promoter and the feedback loop system. She was also the one who performed the measurement track assays for GFP
  • Utkarsh is involved in the mutation rate assay which includes checking the basal mutation rates in E.coli and cloning the arabinose inducible promoter with mutD5 to check dosage dependent effects of mutD5 on the mutation rate of the bacteria
  • Abhinav is involved in characterizing the biosensor developed by the 2015 Bielefeld iGEM team and developing a bioremediation tool which involves cloning 2 genes onto the biosensor and characterizing it
  • E.coli DH5 alpha Competent cells were made mainly by Varsha and Abhinav. E.coli MG1655 competent cells were made by Utkarsh
  • Nishant Baruah is involved in modelling the blue light inducible promoter and the feedback loop system
  • Shubhankar Londhe is modelling the biosensor and theoretically trying to tweak parameters to increase efficiency of the biosensor. He is also involved in modelling our bioremediation tool
  • Supratim Das is trying to decode structures of proteins involved in our project like PbrD, PbrT and PbrR and understanding their functions relating to lead sequestration
  • Pranav, Varsha, Utkarsh and Shubhankar visited this year’s All India iGEM Meet-up held at IISER Bhopal. They presented our project idea along with a poster presentation and obtained feedback about the project
  • Pranav, Sayantan, Utkarsh, Shubhankar, Varsha, Abhinav, Nishant and Supratim were involved in our interviews with some experts in the field of life sciences and sewage treatment engineering
  • Sayantan made the questionnaire for one of our human practices survey form
  • Abhinav made the OD growth curve for E.coli DH5 alpha in both LB and SOB media
  • Aarti, Jyothish, Pranav, Utkarsh and Supratim interacted with IISER Tirupati iGEM 2019 team as mentors and have helped them structure the way they should go about their project
  • Varsha coordinated with the Videography and the content formatting team
  • Sayantan made the Blue light box which is used in all blue light related experiments
  • Sayantan coordinated with the human Practices team
  • Sayantan coordinated all wiki edits and played a major role in the making of the wiki. Nishant and Shubhankar helped out Sayantan in making the wiki.
  • Pranav made the team logo and the IISER Pune collaborations badge. Pranav and Sayantan made the design for the team banner. Pranav made the design for the team T-shirt
  • Nishant, Shubhankar, Sayantan and Pranav put thought into the applied design of our system
  • Pranav was involved in coordinating with various teams for our collaborations, IISER Pune accounts department for the flight tickets and the registration of the rest of the team members

  • Dr. Chaitanya Athale, our Primary PI, has supported us throughout the course of this project by helping us troubleshoot problems with our experiments and modelling, handling all logistics of project and providing general counselling to the team. He also conducted a biosafety orientation to make us aware of all general safety rules to be followed while working in a laboratory
  • Dr. Aurnab Ghose, our secondary PI has helped us by assessing our All India iGEM Meetup presentation, troubleshooting problems with our project and the initial brainstorming
  • Aarti Kejriwal, Jyothish S, our advisors who were also a part of the 2017 IISER Pune iGEM team have helped us a lot by helping us troubleshoot our experiments and giving us the right direction to work in. They have taught us core experimental techniques and basic laboratory safety
  • Aarti was involved in the early troubleshooting of experiments of IISER Tirupati iGEM team
  • Rupali Sathe (Amrita Hazra Lab), Yamini Mathur (Amrita Hazra Lab), Vinayak Tumuluri (Saikrishnan Karayat Lab) and Sushmita Hegde (Girish Ratnaparkhi Lab) are 2nd year integrated PhD students have conducted a wet laboratory bootcamp to teach us all the important experiments including preparation of media, cloning, handling bacterial cultures, etc.They also conducted a biosafety quiz with a 75% qualification percentage
  • The Perkin Elmer facility of IISER pune helped us in using the plate reader to take fluorescence measurements for both GFP and RFP
  • Dr. Nishad Matange helped us with initial brainstorming of the project, gave inputs to certain parts of the project and helped Utkarsh perform and troubleshoot his mutation rate assays
  • Dr. Gayathri Pananghat helped us troubleshoot our PCR cloning experiments which was a turning point in the project as it helped complete the construction of the blue light inducible promoter system.
  • Yash Jawale and Kunalika Jain of Athale lab helped us with modelling of the project and understanding the fluorescence measurements taken by Varsha
  • All advisors, mentors and PIs helped shaping our final presentation and poster for the Giant Jamboree

  • Dr. Neelesh Dahanukar provided us with plastic ware and bench materials during times of shortage to prevent our work from halting
  • Poornima R, a former lab assistant and technician helped us with initial laboratory techniques like PCRs and gel electrophoresis
  • Athale lab, Aurnab Ghose lab, Ratnaparkhi lab, Amrita Hazra lab, Saikrishnan Kayarat lab, Nishad Matange lab, Richa Ricky lab and UG lab of the department of Biology, IISER Pune have also helped us in our difficult times and experiments by providing us with reagents and chemicals upon urgent requests

  • Dr. Jayant Udgaonkar, Director of IISER Pune for wholeheartedly supporting the project and providing us with laboratory space and consumables
  • Sanjeev Galande, Dean of Research and Development of IISER Pune, on behalf of the institute, financially assisted us with the jamboree registration of Pranav S R before the first registration deadline

  • Pallav Khandekar, 1st year BS-MS undergrad student shot and directed the team video. Varsha along with Pallav and another 1st year undergrad student, Pranav Dingra, wrote the script for the video. Pallav and Panav Dingra were also editors of the team video. S.S Vishak and S.V.U Vedant, 1st year BS-MS undergraduate students for making the stop motion animation in the team video
  • Pallav also took the team photo and individual photos of the team members and the beautiful photo of our main building that is displayed on our home page

  • Our institute, IISER Pune have helped us by providing us with laboratory space and consumables, smoothening the process of flight bookings and Jamboree registration of some of the team members
  • Mr. Rajkumar R S, Senior General Manager of Bosch India Foundation, helped us getting private sponsorship from Bosch India Foundation

  • Robert Pintabona for giving us very useful information on how sewage treatment plants work and help us design our bioremediation device. He gave us noteworthy points regarding disposal of heavy metal once remediated
  • Vanishree Srinivas for giving us insights about biological patents, cellular biochemistry and advantages of having biological systems over chemical ones for remediation of water bodies
  • Dheeraj Tembhurne, Rupal Gehlot, Vasudha Kulkarni, Avadhoot Jadhav who are BS-MS undergrads who conducted the human practices survey amongst the farmers, fishermen and common people of various other professions who reside around the Mula Mutha river. About 50 people around the river were surveyed
  • We thank IISER Bhopal iGEM 2019 team for conducting the All India iGEM Meetup 2019 that gave us huge opportunity for presenting our project and gaining feedback that helped improve different aspects of our project
