Several sharing to the public are organized so as to introduce our innovative probiotic testing method targeting for commercial products. These sharing occasions including ranging from radio broadcast to internal school sharing, so as to introduce this innovative technique to the public.

The audiences of these public engagement sessions are very diverse, lining from the general public to secondary school students. The most notable public engagement is the radio broadcast, in which over thousands target audiences are expected from Hong Kong and Greater Bay China.

Radio Broadcast

On June 29, one of our team members, HUI Nga Ki, was invited to attend a live broadcast titled 新人類,大世界 (New People) on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), sharing the latest DNA nanotechnology and works we had explored through for iGEM this year. Moreover, Hui Nga Ki also talked about our project, the challenges we experienced in the project, and how we overcame them.

The target audience of this programme reached around 1,000 people from Hong Kong and Greater Bay China. We hoped to share our project findings and idea to the public through the radio programme. In addition, we hoped that the radio programme could help promoting the iGEM competition to the public. The transcript of the programme could be found here

School sharing session

In October 16, we held a sharing session in front of our teachers and students. Apart from briefly introduced the latest DNA nanotechnology to them, we also present our work done this summer.

School is always a well-established platform to introduce new knowledge to students. Though the knowledge in this sharing session is rather simple than what we have done this summer, we hope that these fundamental knowledge could arouse students’ interest in nanotechnology. After all, nanotechnology is not that out of reach to the public, at least in our school.
