iGEM Colorado Team Meet Up

The collaboration portion of our project was conducted on August 10th, 2019. iGEM team representatives of Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado, United States Air Force Academy, and Colorado State University met in Denver, CO to discuss project ideas, experimental results, and to practice presentations for jamboree. We received valuable input from all teams on our presentation and restructured it to communicate the purpose and approach of the project more clearly. This involved a project summary of both the quorum sensing circuit and the kill mechanism, which were initially separate sections, and giving a more complete description of cause and effect in our quorum sensing mechanism. In addition to this, we discussed troubleshooting approaches for issues that the team was experiencing with transforming into competent E. coli cells. We also gave feedback on other teams’ presentations, helped develop a plan for troubleshooting and discussed possible ways to improve campus visibility of iGEM teams to increase undergraduate student participation.
