TodE Composite Part Improvement

Previous composite part

We improved the sequence of the toluene degradation pathway component E - a protein that belongs to a group of enzymes called catechol-2,3-dioxygenases (C23Os) - specifically called  3-methylcatechol 2,3-dioxygenase. It catalyses the breakdown of 3-methylcatechol to 2-hydroxy6-oxo-methylhexa-2,4-dienoate (6-methyl HODA). Due to its versatility to compounds that look similar to toluene, it was used as an intermediate enzyme for the breakdown of the polystyrene monomer styrene. This year we fixed a minor mistake we made last year by adding in a constitutive promoter before the RBS and the coding sequence of the enzyme.
