Project support and advice
Our advisor/instructors Manu, Mitch and Alistair provided most support to us during the brainstorming and later stages of our project. We were also assisted by other staff in Biological Sciences Faculty including our general manager Jeremy Owen. Although we as students brainstormed the original ideas, they helped us narrow down our choices in letting us know what was feasible in the time frame and with the lab resources we had. We also had assistance from Fraser Hughson, a PhD student at our university, with the comprehending and developing the battery mechanics/electronics side of our project.
Fundraising support and advice
We had various sponsors with their hyperlinked logos listed at the bottom of this page. We are hugely appreciative of the funding they provided us, making it possible for us to carry out our project and travel across the globe to the iGEM Jamboree!
Lab support
Our advisors and instructors Mitch, Manu and Alistair provided a great deal of lab support to us: from helping us interpret/adapt protocols to understanding the safety considerations of the lab. We also received help from others working in the lab for more minor advice. This came from Kelsey, Janine and Vincent.
Wiki support
Our wiki was designed and built by Lucy Huang and Demelza Robinson. The wiki content (such as graphs, text and data tables) were constructed by all team members.
Presentation coaching
We carried out a few practice presentation sessions. A key practice was in front of the Faculty of Science, which provided us with useful feedback. We had a few members present our project at a seminar in Australia, which also helped critique our presentation.
Human practices support
This involved outreach to individuals at Z Energy, a commercialisation workshop run by Viclink, discussions with local iwi, and coordination with Victoria Clubs Day organisers. These groups are mostly to thank! With regards to deciding who to reach out to and what sort of involvement in the community, we had most of our advice come from Mitch and Manu.
