Basic Parts

Best Basic Part: BBa_K2945000 - Enzyme that converts fatty acids into alkanes.
This gene encodes an enzyme which converts fatty acids into C1-shortened alkanes and carbon dioxide as a byproduct. This enzyme requires photo-activation by light approximately 450 nm in wavelength in order to be catalytically active. Read more about it from the following two papers doi: 10.1126/science.aan6349 and doi: 10.1002/anie.201807119 .

Part: BBa_K2945003 - SigA Promoter for sp. 7002
SigA promoter for synechococcus sp. 7002 is a primary sigma factor and an initiation factor that promotes the attachment of RNA polymerase to specify initiation sites and is then released after the RNA polymerase has been successfully attached.

Part: BBa_K2945004 - Individual gene Fab-d plasmid
A Fatty Acid synthase component that works to catalyzes fatty acid synthesis

Part: BBa_K2945005 - AlkL channel protein
AlkL is a channel protein capable of importing alkanes. It has been shown that without this protein, alkane uptake was the rate limiting step for the mechanisms that process alkanes. Please refer to the paper "Identification and use of an alkane transporter plug-in for applications in biocatalysis and whole-cell biosensing of alkanes" by Grant et al. for more information.

Part: BBa_K2945007 - Individual Enzyme Gene FabZ Plasmid
A fatty acid synthase component. Dehydratase with 1 substrate. Base pairs are proceeded by ribosome binding site. This individual enzyme gene (FabZ) plasmid catalyzes fatty acid synthesis along with the other individual Fab gene plasmids.

Part: BBa_K2945008 - Individual Gene Enzyme FabG Plasmid
A fatty acid synthase component. Ketoacyl-ACP reductase with 2 substrates. Base pairs are proceeded by ribosome binding site. This individual enzyme gene (FabG) plasmid catalyzes fatty acid synthesis along with the other individual Fab gene plasmids.
