About

Shayan is one of the Co-Captains this year. He grew up in Southern California and was a child actor before he decided to dedicate his life to science. His serious career in the LIFE cereal and JCPenney commercials have given him a bit of a flare for the dramatic and he now considers himself the director of ‘UCSC iGEM Productions’. Often getting upset when the team doesn’t get expected results, he can be heard insisting we “do another take” or “re-do that PCR scene with more emotion”.

When Shayan isn’t directing lab scenes he can be found wine-ing and dining with his old drinking buddy Barack Obama or putting the Shhhh in ShAren by taking a 16 hour power nap.
