Team Members

Andrew Zarzar

Worked on writing and developing protocols and implementing data organization methods. Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project.

Aren Pageler

Conducted early instruction on wet lab techniques and oversees lab procedures and experiments. Aided human practices and fundraising by organizing giving day and gave contacts for the Worldbuilders Organization. Acquired and repaired various instruments throughout the lab. Led team members in all categories throughout the project.

Ikenna Anikbogu

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project. Contributed to human practices by helping establish contact with multiple nonprofits.

Jiasui Xu

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project. Was vital in contacting the Pielak Lab, and Dr. Dirk Hincha. Established modeling for the concentration ratio and growth curve.

James Hahn

Worked on writing and developing protocols and implementing data organizations methods. Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project. Facilitated collaborations between Dr. Rebecca Dubois’ lab.

Jonah Pierce

Worked on writing and developing protocols and implementing data organizations methods. Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project and trained other lab members. Established modeling for the concentration ratio and growth curve. Facilitated collaborations between Bari Nazario, Dr. Kelly Kemp, and Dr. Rebecca Dubois.

Liana Beld

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Formed a relationship between Gail Harlamoff and Westside Farm and Feed and collaborated with the UCSC Girls in Engineering program. Set up the Woodstock's fundraiser. Created videos and took photos for website and social media outreach.

Marcella Mirabelli

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Set up the UCSC crowdfunding page and corresponded with multiple fundraising advisors such as Rodger Triel and Suz Howells. Created graphics and collaborated on design elements for the wiki and aided with human practices.

Marcus Strauss

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Coded the Wiki and influenced the page layouts, graphics, design and information presented.

Martina Pedersen

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project and purified proteins. Contributed to the human practice’s outreach to non-profits, doctors and scientists, collection information about Newcastle disease.

Melody Azimi

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Contributed to Human Practices by reaching out to organizations and individuals to provide insight on the effects of having heat stable vaccines. Facilitated collaborations between the other iGEM teams.

Nikki Cardenas

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Corresponded with multiple collaborators such as Zymo, Thermo Fisher, and Sarstead. Wrote and illustrated a children's book about the importance of our vaccine for human practices and a collaboration with iGEM Vienna.

Preet Kaur

Worked on writing and developing protocols and implementing data organizations methods and trained other lab members. Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project. Facilitated collaborations between Dr. Rebecca Dubois and Dr. Jurica.

Rita Ousterhout

Performed lab experiments for protein production for phase 1 of the project. Trained and performed experiments in the BSL2 lab in phase 2 of the project. Created graphics and collaborated on design elements for the wiki. Facilitated partnerships between the team and nonprofits such as Heifer International, and implemented other outreach opportunities. Designed and fully developed the entrepreneurship portion of the project.

Varuna Dharasker
