Experiment Module
We designed an RNAi-based herbicide for M. micrantha. In order to finish our experiment,, most iGEMers have taken on the heavy responsibility. From screening the specific and essential gene of M. micrantha to testing the RNAi-based herbicide, Rongsong, Lingling, Jiantao, Zhongting, Xiaolong and Jingying have devoted their time and effort. Rongsong designed a siRNA screening program to help us find the specific and essential gene. Lingling designed most of the experiments. Jiantao was responsible for the part characterization and RNAi molecules synthesis. Zhongting was responsible for the RNAi nanoparticles synthesis and characterization. Xiaolong and Jingying were responsible for testing the RNAi-based herbicide. They all made great contributions to the project!
Human Practice Module
In order to build a platform for iGEMers to communicate with each other, Jiaqi and Zhongting organized a meeting which called Southern China Regional Meeting. Besides, Yiming shot a documentary showing the history of M. micrantha invasion. Here, we sincerely thank Jiaqi, Zhongting, Yiming, Jingying, Xiaolong, Jiantao and Lingling, without whom the human practice, as well as the collaboration could not be carried out so successfully.
Modeling
To predict the growth of M. micrantha, the efficiency of our product and help to direct project design, Rongsong constructed many mathematical models and analyzed some experimental data with the statistic model to give us a scientific result.
Wiki & Applet
Our team this year only has two members to build and design the wiki, as well as the Applet. These two members are Xinyong and Zijian. They were the main forces in creating the team wiki and have spent a lot of time to discuss with us and build the wiki.
Instruction
Thanks to our soul figure, Weizhao Chen, we can run our team smoothly. He not only gave us suggestions on various parts of the competition but also faced the problems together with us. More importantly, we could not finish our project without the sponsor he found. Meanwhile, we also thank the key person, Professor Beixin Mo, of our project for giving us a lot of professional advice and supports. Additionally, we thank Yu Yu, our instructor, for telling us many valuable experiences on doing different kinds of experiments.
