Dr. John Allingham – Principal Investigator
Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Queen’s University
As one of our principal investigators for QGEM 2019, Dr. Allingham was a crucial figure in the organization of the team. He acted as a consultant for experiments, allocation of resources, and guided our project with his expertise. He has been a long-term mentor of QGEM and has supported our team every step of the way.
Dr. Jia – Principal Investigator
Professor, Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Queen’s University
Dr. Jia has provided us general advices on laboratory procedures and was extremely generous with the resources and reagents we needed for the execution of the project.
Dr. Escobedo – Project Advisor
Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Queen’s University
Dr. Escobedo introduced the team to the microfluidics and offered a lot of help in the design of the fluid collection system in our device.
Wet Lab
Design and transformation of DNA parts, protein expression and protein purification were led by Wet Lab Lead Caitlin Doubleday and QGEM 2019 Director Ruben Warkentin.
Mr. Byron Hunter – Graduate Advisor

Guided the team in determination of the QGEM 2019 project, taught our team the required laboratory procedures, assisted with design of biobrick, and provided support during the troubleshooting stages.

Yujin Cho – Dry Lab Lead

Led the overall design of the device, including its 3D blueprint, electrical components, internal fluid collection system, and the computer programming for the Bluetooth module.
