Composite Parts

   We hoped to apply quorum sensing system as the indicator of E. coli ’s population. Therefore, we summited a composite part containing constitutive promoter, RBS, LuxI gene, LuxR gene,and a composite part containing lux promoter, RBS, mCherry. Both parts are the QS system. Other composite parts contain lactose promoter, RBS and toxin gene.

Quorum Sensing System

  In our biobrick, LuxI and LuxR would express constitutively. LuxI would produce AHL, and AHL would bind to LuxR to form an operator complex. The AHL-LuxR complex will trigger the lux promoter, and mCherry fluorescent protein will express.

Toxin Gene

  The composite part contain a lac promoter, an RBS, and the toxin gene. The toxin will be expressed after IPTG induction.
