COLLABORATIONS

University of Lethbridge Collegiate Team

We are collaborating with the University of Lethbridge Collegiate Team for the 8th year in a row. The collegiate team members have assisted our project by providing us with mentorship and assistance in the lab. Sydnee Calhoun, Chris Isaac, Luke Saville, Kristi Turton, and Dia Koupantsis, members of the collegiate team, were advisors for our team and provided valuable assistance and help for our project. In return, some members of our team were able to assist the collegiate team by helping them create their project video. We were also able to assist each other by providing molecular work, and feedback on each others presentation.

JulyGEM

Our team was invited to the JulyGEM conference by the Calgary iGEM team, where the University of Alberta iGEM team, and the University of Lethbridge Collegiate Team joined us. This was an amazing opportunity to learn about the iGEM teams in our vicinity, and hear a pitch on their projects this year. It was a great way to build relationships with other iGEM team members and collaborate on ways we could improve our project. It was also a way to learn any questions they had about our project.

aGEM

This year our annual aGEM competition was held in Edmonton, Alberta. This competition brought teams from all over Alberta together. Not only was this competition an opportunity to learn how teams had advanced their project since JulyGEM, but it was also an opportunity to ask other teams questions about their project. This not only allows our understanding of their project to expand, but also expands the teams’ ability to answer questions they may not be familiar with. Overall, it was a great experience to hear feedback from the judges and students at the competition.
