GEORGIA STATE
Lambert iGEM participated in Georgia State’s presentation bootcamp along with Florida State University. We received helpful insight on the flow and content of our presentation while learning about the projects of our fellow teams.
Georgia State also played a critical role in the development of our bead homogenizer. They opened their lab to us, allowing us to compare our results to commercial homogenizer results. They also tested the device for their project and told us the tuneability of our device made it more practical for their project than the commercial homogenizer. They also granted us access to use their plate reader, allowing us to conduct a side-by-side analysis and verify the functionality of our FluoroCents system.
Georgia State's team also tested our frugal bead homogenizer, OpenCell, and compared results with their commercial homogenizer. They gave us significant feedback on ease of use and functionality and provided insight into potential improvements to our design. After testing, they described our frugal homogenizer results as "better than the commercial homogenizer" in terms of their experiment, resulting in greater cell viability. Our homogenizer was less aggressive than the commercial one with more tunability and versatility.
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
Our team collaborated with UGA iGEM in to help teach children in our community about biotechnology. Their team attended our Biotechnology Summer Bootcamp for rising 8th and 9th graders. UGA presented the implementation of synthetic biology in other fields, such as agriculture, which has allowed the campers to understand the real-world implications. They informed out team and campers about their project, expanding the campers’ thinking.
WILLIAM AND MARY
We would like to extend special thanks to William and Mary for donating $100 to the Thirst Project. This money will go towards building a well for a community in Eswatini. Their generosity will help a whole community have clean water for generations.
UIOSLO
We would also like to extend special thanks to the University of Oslo iGEM team for donating $100 to the Thirst Project. This money will go towards building a well for a community in Eswatini. Their generosity will help a whole community have clean water for generations.
SAINT JOSEPH
We collaborated with Team Saint Joseph and completed the meme challenge. We created iGEM memes and posted on our Instagram page. This was a fun way to raise awareness for iGEM through social media with a fun twist. Lambert iGEM participated in the mini-survey on water waste. This collaboration allows our knowledge and opinions on water waste. We participated in Saint Joseph iGEM’s “cooking with iGEM” collaboration. Our team each got to make a few cookies expressing the science in iGEM. We had so much fun doing this collaboration and hoped that our friends would see how cool iGEM can be!
MITADTBIO PUNE
Lambert iGEM participated in the Menstrual Waste survey to diminish the stigma of menstruation around the world, including the science community. We hope this survey will bring more diverse and sustainable menstrual materials for all women.
UALBERTA
Lambert iGEM took part in the Demographic and Inclusivity Survey to help learn more about the diversity for all iGEM teams. We hope this survey will help identify the diverse community we have at iGEM.
VIRGINIA
Lambert iGEM took the survey on the use of styrofoam to help determine the global distribution, size, preference, and dispose methods. We hope our contribution will make a difference and help out UVA. Lambert iGEM added our social media to the “hub” for all iGEM teams to hopefully make it easier for all teams to communicate with each other. We hope our contributions will help other teams be able to connect with one another.
UOTTAWA
Lambert iGEM sent a protocol for the protocol handbook. We hope that our contribution helps other iGEM teams and their need for protocols.
TU DRESDEN
Lambert iGEM helped TU Dresden with their video project introducing iGEM to the world. We sent our own fundraising video and provided insight into how to market iGEM.
BEAD HOMOGENIZER SURVEY
Teams Tacoma RAINmakers, iGEM Montpellier, iGEM William and Mary, VIT Vellore, iGEM-Vienna, uOttawa iGEM, PhCoVi, Tongji-software, Poitiers, Athens, UAAN, and iGEM Concordia participated in Lambert iGEM’s survey for the demand of our frugal bead homogenizer. We are extremely grateful for their insight in this hardware project.
