OptoMatic: A revolutionary Opto-Impedimetric system
What is it?
OptoMatic is our version of GCODe which we have modified to be able to measure the ratio of bacterial concentrations in a co-culture and to dynamically control them if it is an Optogenetic System.
Why is it needed?
Until now, the co-culturing of bacteria and characterizing the properties of these ensembles at different proportions has been an infeasible venture. This is because to attain these co-cultures at different ratios, the bacteria usually need to be transformed again. This cycle as a whole is extremely time-intensive and cannot be fine-tuned. OptoMatic provides an excellent solution for this. Using the same transformed bacteria, a large range of ratios can be achieved. To do this, we require ratio measurement methods coupled with a dynamic correction mechanism. OptoMatic provides these necessities at the click of a button.
OptoMatic uses the impedance of the culture along with the OD600 of the sample to find the ratios. On obtaining the ratio, it controls the red, green and blue LEDs in it to bring to and maintain the bacterial ratios at the required numbers.
