I am the lazy local member who don't bother to write much for self description. Mostly work in the lab.

I am probably that quintissential clueless guy on the team trying to learn new things everyday. iGEM has given me an opportunity to greatly broaden my horizon in synthetic biology and the labwork behind it. Endless research has taught me the importance of patience while endless failures of PCR have taught me resilience or so I hope. Who else has made gel with water instead of TAE?

I hail from a far east Asian country of Korea (don't worry, I come from the South) and I am doing my degree over here, for Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Coming from the not-so-bio department, my journey through iGEM was that of cluelessness, questioning and of course, learning. During my free time, I like to spend time reading, chatting with friends or gaming. When I am not free, I’ve worked in the lab, with modelling, collaboration and wiki. Wait, I think I might be getting overworked here…

I'm from Kuala Lumpur, and I have lived in Hong Kong for 7 years now. I joined iGem for a more autonomous experience in the lab settings. I'm now more comfortable working in a lab, and have been able to put more of the concepts covered in class to use! I also enjoy football, reading comics and hiking.

I'm a Taiwanese girl that has been a fan of biology for my whole life. Some say that Aquarius people are lunatics that escaped from asylums, and this statement definitely suits me if you know me well. In my team, I am involved in lab works and IHP. iGEM caught my eye because it looks like a lot of fun, and it is indeed! It's a blessing to get to learn so many new things and meet these talented people.

I am a BIBU student from mainland China. This is my first iGEM experience. Through this experience, I learned a lot about lab work. I also like reading, watching films and many other things.
Jaman

Hi there! I am Jaman who is one of the secretaries of iGEM. Responsible for typing annoying emails and handling boring paperwork. Reasons for joining iGEM? Love is all you need.

I am one of the people who have moved around a lot in my role of contribution to the team but the constant is the: entertainment factor! I made sure my team mates always had a good laugh, as I try and seep in the experience of some lab work and application of synthetic biology concepts. I think through this experience I can surely say that curiosity requires patience and diligence, but most importantly: TEAMWORK. I can now make gels to perfection and load them with utmost confidence.

Year2
Hi, I am Karl MA, a life science student from Mainland China. But I guess I am more like a computer science student in iGEM. Because it seems that I learn more about web page coding than biology here.

This is my first time to participate in an international competition and I am grateful to meet a lot of teammates with different specialties and try to do experiments related to synthetic biology.
Mauricio
Year3
Hello there! I am Mauricio a third year pure mathematics student from Nicaragua. I joined iGEM with a very basic understanding of biology and have been enjoying learn more about it together with my teammates. I am not very good at wetlab work, so I try to help the auxiliary modules as I can.

I'm a local Hong Kong student, and I mostly work in the lab (I wish I could sleep in it). Really excited to work in iGEM again as I'm sure this will be a great endeavour ahead! Grateful to meet all the amazing people along the journey and have an opportunity to fail all the experiments :)

Hello, I come from Taiwan and now studying in Hong Kong for my university. I have a great time in iGEM, and I do learn a lot from my best teammates! Especially the time in the lab, it makes up the most unforgettable summer I have.
Sherry

Hi there! I'm Sherry Zhou. Being part of the iGEM team really help me explore around the concept of synthetic biology. I'm new to the whole thing and I'm happily learning everyday!!!

Heyyyyyy! I'm from mainland and I study Bioengineering. To be honest I don't really know how to descibe myself beacuse I don't know me well enough. So...I love biology and I do iGEM, that's it!

Hi! I'm a 3rd year from Indonesia studying Biotechnology and Business. I work in the lab, design our logos and posters, as well as code a lot of the wiki pages.
I'm gonna put cookies on this card because I can.

Not only am I diverse in my physical attributes, I also have a variety of interests and hobbies. When I’m not gulping down protein shakes in my free time, you can find me reading about microeconomics and supply-side economics. My favorite part of the iGEM experience would definitely be the exciting general meetings, buffer synthesis, and the friends I made along the way.
Sanjana
Year3
Hey I’m Sanjana, a Biotechnology student from India. iGEM for me has been so much more than just the competition. I learned that rigours labwork can actually be fun if you have the right people around. The experience of learning new things together coupled with the stressful navigation of several project changes has, I believe, brought us closer. You know they will root for you no matter how many gels you break. It has been a journey and a half and I am grateful to have been a part of it.

I'm a 4th time iGEMer! (Though this is my first time participating as a college student) iGEM is one of the most intense things I have experienced and I can say it certainly has contributed much to make me who I am today. Yeah, failing experiments are frustrating and not knowing what's wrong and how to improve is even more frustrating. But working with the team and having breakthrough make everything worth it :P

I was first intrigued by the concept of genetic engineering when I watched Jurassic Park, the concept of modifying genes to new biological responses have always fascinated me. Over the summer, iGEM has taught me the importance of investigative thinking - always asking questions and of learning new concepts. Through this project, I realized that reading scientific papers was a gruelling task at first, but it was a challenge that I enjoyed immensely.
