UROP Sidewalk Symposium
A yearly event where students get to display and discuss their independent research
At CU, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) offers students many ways to engage with and explore independent research. We had the chance to participate in their Sidewalk Symposium, where students draw out their research project with chalk on the campus's sidewalks.
This opportunity was especially important to us, since it gave us the chance to engage with students who wouldn't have known about the iGEM team or its work at CU. Our team takes pride in having members with a diverse range of academic disciplines; the sidewalk symposium allowed us to advertise to even more students, & allowed students to interact with the project more closely. Ultimately, our team was able to offer others at CU a way to engage with synthetic biology through the iGEM team.
