Collaborations

On June 13th, 2019, we held an Israeli Meet Up at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. iGEM groups from the Technion and Tel-Aviv University attended, and the Academic and Technology College of Tel-Hai's group joined us via Skype.

At 12pm the groups arrived, and we had lunch together after their long journey. We made sure there was a vegan option to accommodate everyone, and the event was a "Zero Waste" event, meaning no plastic waste was created. The non-profit organization "Green Course" lent us glasses for hot and cold beverages, so we didn't use any plastics, or any disposables to that matter.

Prof. Lital Alfonta, our primary PI, opened the event by welcoming our guests and thanking them for coming all the way to Beer-Sheva, the southern district of Israel. She spoke about the importance of iGEM teams' cooperation and open communication in the scientific community.

Each group was given twenty minutes to present their project, and ten more minutes for questions. Interesting notes and discussions were raised during the questions section that helped all of us in the formulation of our ideas and of our projects.

Once everyone was done presenting, we continued the discussions and broke off in smaller groups to further discuss possible collaborations and ideas. We enjoyed hosting the groups and exchanged phone numbers and e-mail addresses in order to keep in touch hoping to meet everyone again in the Giant Jamboree in Boston this fall !

On October 6th, 2019, we also attended the Tel Aviv iGEM teams Meet Up. It was held at Tel Aviv University, where all the Israeli teams shared their preliminary presentations and discussed their projects.
