Contributing Characterization of Pre-existing Parts

The measurement of LuxI and LasI expression and activity performed by several team members and interested students as a project in Advanced Biochemistry (BCM422). The data presented was generated by Brianna Ricker, Nathan Haut, David Viguilla, Keara Parker, and Dustin George. Steven Sowa, Michael Hallada, Jacob Carbary, Alex Martinez, and Alexis Downing, among others, also provided help and replicates for these experiments.

Characterizing the Universal Primers for Golden Gate Assembly was primarily carried out by Chloe Bower, with Dr. Devin Camenares assisting in primer design and sequencing result analysis.

Creating and Characterizing Project Specific BioBricks

This work was largely completed by David Viguilla and Chloe Bower (Thanks to Alma CORE Program for support during summer research). Chloe (with assistance from Brianna Ricker) focused primarily on MtbA and the Pyl genes, David focused on combining MttB and MttC into an operon, and Chloe assisted in creation of the initial constructs. John Vusich worked on appending MttB and MttC with SpyTag and SpyCatcher for an in vitro design for the project -- Together with David he performed cell free protein synthesis with the TXTL kit from Arbor Biosciences.

Human Practices, Collaboration and Graphic Design

Consultation with experts for integrated human practices was carried out by David Viguilla, Chloe Bower, Nathan Haut, Maddison Hibbs, John Vusich, Kaleb Ramon, with help from Alex Martinez, Colleen Loftus, Emily Wood, Damon Rogers, and Steven Sowa.

Brianna Ricker, Nathan Haut, Kaleb Ramon, David Viguilla, Madison Hibbs, and Chloe Bower attended the meetups at the Carroll HS (Dayton, OH) and Michigan State University (Lansing, MI). Nathan collaborated with MSU on SimBio and Mathematical Modeling.

Graphic design work was largely completed by Whitney Miller (Thanks to Alma CORE Program for support during summer research), with input from other team members and helpers. Kelsey Taylor formatted content for the Wiki.

Other Acknowledgements

A special thanks is also owed to Jacob Wilburn for his participation in the ASPIRE camp, and to Abigail Killian for proofreading and review of the Wiki. We'd also thank Eryn Corinth for helpful discussions regarding outreach and human practices.

Special thanks to Brianna Ricker who is responsible for the original project idea and some of the description and design of this project on the Wiki.

We would also like to everyone who responded to our survey that ultimately helped us decide on the Plaque Attack project. Special thanks also to Alma High School teachers Mr. Steven Lord and Julie Dellamorretta.

Outside Support

We would like to thank the MSU Genomics CORE for sample sequencing; New England Biolabs, Arbor Biosciences, QIAGen, Sigma, Integrated DNA Technologies, and Twist Bioscience for supplies and in-kind support.
Of course, we also must thank Alma College for providing some funding and a supportive environment for an iGEM team.
