This year, we collaborated with US_AFRL_Carroll High School team to create a combined YouTube channel that will serve as an online resource for new iGEMers. Since this channel features both of our YouTube channels, we hope it will give them more exposure inside and outside the iGEM community. Furthermore, this channel will be used in the future to include other iGEM teams who wants to expand the online resource.
Our collaboration was done through Email, Twitter, and Facebook; more specifically, we helped US_AFRL_Carroll High School Team improve their Wiki Guide by offering them link to a previously established method of troubleshooting Bootstrap setup, and fixing a small error in one of their videos.
With TAS_Taipei, Tuebingen, and Costa_Rica
During June, we participated in the iGEMxSDGs challenge organized by TAS Taipei, Tuebingen and Costa Rica. This challenge was very similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, where we connected our project idea to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, downloaded a template to represent the SDG’s from Costa Rica’s webpage, posted it on our Instagram account, and tagged 4 other teams to participate in the challenge. As one of the first teams to participate in the challenge, we were responsible for maintaining contact with the organizers and explaining the rules to the other teams who participated. This challenge was very beneficial to our team, as it allowed for us to see where we could make an impact in our human practices, and to also explore more sustainable solutions in the future. Overall, this event turned out to be a success, with over 60 teams that participated. Please see TAS Taipei’s Public Engagement wiki page for more information on the challenge.
