iGEM Calgary is committed to forming relationships. We have been in contact through cGEM to all Canadian teams or by hosting a meetup, participating in aGEM, going to the Pacific Northwest Meetup, sending education packages to multiple teams, and more.

In July, our team hosted Western Canada iGEM teams for JulyGEM, a midsummer iGEM meetup. The event included team project pitches, a range of speakers to foster entrepreneurship, and time for collaboration and interaction between teams. The main goal for this event included fostering inter-team connections between iGEM teams in our immediate vicinity, to better help spark collaborations for the iGEM season and create new friendships.

Our event had attendance from the UAlberta, Lethbridge Collegiate, and Lethbridge high school iGEM teams

We plan to host JulyGEM in the 2020 iGEM competition with, hopefully, more teams and arranging the format to be more of a pitch competition and turning JulyGEM into DragonsGEM

As part of our training program, Calgary iGEMers undergo a class. We created an education package based upon the classroom materials. This material was shared with the Waterloo team and other THICC teams. Feedback was received from THICC teams.
